Much of the excitement brewing around the Gossip Girl reboot has to do with the new fashion that fans get to check out. The new rendition may have mixed reviews from Gossip Girl diehards and new viewers too, but HBO Max’s teen drama definitely delivers sartorially.

Julien, Audrey, Luna, Monet, and even the supposedly “fashionably backward” Kate Keller have enviable wardrobes which are overflowing with both big-name and independent designers. In the six episodes that HBO Max has released so far, the outfits have been absolutely sensational, and the sheer number of great looks compiled by costume designer Eric Daman makes it difficult to choose the best.

10 Kate Keller In Chic Burgundy And Tartan

Canonically, Kate Keller is a “badly dressed” adult in Gossip Girl, but yet she manages to pull some of the best outfits, unknowingly. This tonal burgundy and brown outfit is the perfect autumnal look, and the tartan wide-legged pants finish this ‘rich Upper East Side lady’ outfit beautifully.

The tan Marion Parke shoes bring out the subtle orange in the Essential Antwerp pants, and Kate’s fierce-looking coffee run outfit figures into some of the superlative looks in the show, just not the best.

9 Monet’s Corseted Gingham And Skirt

Always on-trend, Monet adopted the newly resurrected corset trend with this cute, casual outfit. The monotone gingham David Koma bodysuit and the pink checked Roger Vivier bag make for a likable mashup of prints, and the slightly asymmetric skirt adds a bit of edge to the outfit.

Monet’s off-campus dressing is peak Gen-Z style, blended with her penchant for miniskirts and traditional prints, which also make their way into her school uniforms. This look is amazing, but Monet can and has done better with her other outfits.

8 Zoya’s Thrift-Style School Uniform

A highlight of the Gossip Girl Reboot, apart from the couples that fans are rooting for, is Zoya’s school uniform aesthetic. Her environmental and social consciousness reflects in her clothes, which shows her own unique style made up of cozy jumpers, cardigans, and sweatshirts, paired with her school pinafore.

Zoya’s layering in this look is absolutely impeccable, and her knits are the right balance of chic and thrifty. The Doc Martens are also layered with wool socks that match with her casually slung necktie, which is a nice touch. This look could have been elevated with some contrasting badges and accessories to really make it shine.

7 Monet’s Iridescent Purple Suit

Monet showed up fabulously at the Christopher John Rogers runway show, in a head-turning metallic purple suit by the designer himself. Everything about this look screams high fashion, especially Monet’s teeny tiny handbag. The cropped blazer and pleated pants combo is a complete win, and it barely needs accessories, just the way it’s styled here.

The DB or double-breasted jacket will never go out of style, and while the blazer is supposed to be oversized, a slightly better fit could’ve made sure that Monet, one of the most likable characters of the GG Reboot, didn’t look like she was slightly drowning in it.

6 Luna’s Romantic Floral Dress

Luna’s feminine, flirty style is a highlight of the show, and she always sports whites and pastels with romantic details, like ruffles and slim bows. This billowy asymmetric dress by Giambattista Valli fits right into Luna’s aesthetic, and the off-shoulder ruffles with dainty floral print is a welcome change from the darker, edgier colors and cuts that her friends wear.

As always, the ever-present bow makes its way into this outfit, which is strangely reminiscent of Serena Van der Woodsen’s iconic yellow and black outfit in the original Gossip Girl. The only thing missing here for Luna is a better beauty and hair look.

5 Zoya’s Blazing Orange Dress

The first episode of Gossip Girl had some surprises in store for fans, but this fiery sequined look on Zoya was one of the biggest. Zoya attended Julien’s fashion show in this surprisingly bright and beautiful Alex Perry cocktail dress, paired with a metallic Jimmy Choo clutch.

She definitely stood out from the crowd in this shiny mid-length dress, which made it even harder to be ignored when Luna and Monet played the terrible prank from her phone. Nonetheless, the 14-year-old looked absolutely fabulous as she exited the show.

4 Julien’s Printed Ruffled Taffeta

Julien’s big moment as a showstopper in the debut episode of Gossip Girl was nothing short of extraordinary, and this magnificent black and white dress contributed to her success. Designed by Christopher John Rogers, the dress was split in half, featuring mixed prints on a striking silhouette.

The show supported a creator of color, and this dress was a perfect fit for JC’s influencer sense of style. The flowing tie detail at the back of the halter neck was also a great addition, and everybody else in the room paled in comparison to Constance’s in-house diva.

3 Audrey’s Polished Pant Suit

Audrey Hope was a product of a different generation, and her love for classic Hollywood and vintage-inspired clothing showed clearly in this amazing outfit. It’s not often that an Upper East Side teenager is seen donning an old-style pantsuit, complete with the DB, a crisp Givenchy button-down, and a sophisticated scarf, but when Audrey does it, it looks on-trend.

The feminine details, like the socks and Ferragamo Mary Jane combo, the collar chain, and JW Pei handbag stamps this outfit with Hope’s signature polish. Everything about this outfit is elegant and perfect.

2 Julien’s Smart Athleisure

A child of her times, Julien knew how to nail the quintessential sporty influencer look, which was why she was so popular online and in real life. Nobody else could pair a D&G trench coat with Tommy Hilfiger sweats, a formal white layered blouse, a neck scarf, and a Christian Dior saddlebag with such ease.

This outfit should not work, but JC makes all the contrasting elements blend together and pulls it off with élan. For this reason, this look gets full points, especially because of how current it is.

1 Audrey’s Sleek Satin Gown

Nothing is more evergreen than a sweetheart black gown, and Audrey shows us just how enduring the appeal of a simple satin gown can be. Her mother may produce fast fashion, but Audrey picks the slowest, most lovely clothes, like this Duchesse satin gown by Rasario, with the most graceful cutout detail on the bodice.

With casually pulled-up hair, an envelope clutch, and the most delicate earrings, the dress does all the talking without much help. This is easily the best outfit in the Gossip Girl reboot, so far, because of how simple, effective, and timeless it is.
