Will Poulter’s new look is drawing comparisons to his upcoming role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as Adam Warlock. Created by Jim Starlin for Marvel comics, the character played a key part in the Infinity Saga in print. But despite the fact that the MCU’s depiction of that is already finished, director James Gunn is still bringing the character to the franchise via his upcoming threequel.

Warlock’s arrival in the MCU was actually set up at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This led to fans predicting that he could play a part in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame considering the role he played in the fight against Thanos in the comics. That didn’t happen as directors Joe and Anthony Russo wanted to focus the movie on characters who have already been in the franchise. Rumors subsequently circulated that he’s poised to debut in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Gunn denied speculations until news broke out that Poulter has indeed been chosen as the MCU’s Adam Warlock. With filming for the movie now underway, the actor may have shown fans what he would look like as the cosmic being in the project.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In his latest post on Twitter, Poulter shared a brand new headshot in support of the work Alzheimer’s Research UK is doing. The photo was taken by Linda Blacker, and although it doesn’t really have anything to do with his upcoming Marvel gig in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. between the lighter color and the longer length of his hair, many fans have pointed out how he’s starting to resemble Warlock from the comics. Marvel Studios tend to stick with their heroes’ appearance in print when translating them to the big and small screen. While it’s always possible to make post-production alterations thanks to CGI, most actors tend to look like their respective characters during filming. This is especially true for the Guardians of the Galaxy films with Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan all transforming as Gamora, Drax, and Nebula in the make-up chair. Now, Poulter doesn’t have to go through that since Warlock looks like a typical human being, but it is more than likely that the hair color and length are a part of his preparation to play the role.

The aforementioned film has already been in production for quite a while now. With the threequel’s plot specifics still unknown, not much is revealed on how involved Warlock is actually going to be in the movie’s story. But based on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast photo that was shared as filming commences, he’s already on the set of the movie, so chances are that he will be an integral player in it.
