One of the biggest DC TV shows is FOX’s Gotham that followed the story of Bruce Wayne before becoming Batman as well as the origin stories of his iconic super-villains. The series ran for 5 seasons that saw the beloved characters in a new light as it featured why a Dark Knight was ultimately needed to be born. While fans only got to see Bruce in the Batsuit for a few minutes, the series ended with everyone being exactly where they were supposed to be. Thanks to Gotham, the Batman mythology was able to live on the small-screen for 5 years and capture the attention of new fans to the DC icon.

While Gotham had its dark elements, the show was known for not taking itself too seriously. From storylines like The Maniax, the Bruce Wayne clone, and more, there have been a lot of insane arcs throughout their 5 seasons. With super-villains having names like The Penguin and The Riddler, fans are bound to find aspects to make fun of.

10 Gotham’s Only Arrowverse Connection

Over on The CW, all of their DC TV shows are all connected in the same universe known as the Arrowverse. With over 7 shows currently, The CW has become known for being the comic book channel out of the 5 broadcast networks. While Gotham was never included in the Multiverse, at least not officially, Bruce Wayne did end up having one connection with two of the primary heroes.

Tragic backstories are a major part of most superheroes, including Arrow and The Flash. If Barry and Oliver were to ever recap their losses, Bruce would probably want to chime in on that conversation.

9 If Jerome Reacted To Jared Leto

Cameron Monaghan became a major fan-favorite among Gotham fans for his portrayal as the Valeska brothers Jerome and Jeremiah. While they never named him, Jeremiah ended up becoming the show’s iteration of The Joker in that universe.

However, one iteration of the clown prince of crime that hasn’t gotten the same reception is Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto. Jerome would probably feel similar, especially if he ever heard someone claiming Leto’s version was their favorite.

8 When Mondays Used To Rock

Mondays have and always will be the least favorite day of the week. It’s always the slowest one where it feels like the clock isn’t moving at all. However, if there was one thing to look forward to on Mondays it was a new episode of Gotham.

While the fifth season moved to Thursday nights, the show aired its first four seasons on Mondays. If you were a Gotham fan, it probably helped the Monday to go by quicker before an-all new episode aired.

7 The Accurate Villain Descriptions

Batman has one of the best rogues’ galleries in all of fiction which has helped the hero’s mythology stay alive for as long as it has. That became a primary reason why a lot of fans were excited for Gotham as it would follow multiple foes’ origin stories.

With names like Penguin, Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, and The Joker, they’re cheeky but effectual names. However, if they had to be described, this meme hits the spot which makes Batman’s villains a bit funnier.

6 Screw The Gotham Haters

For as much love as Gotham received, there were definitely naysayers, just like with any TV show or movie. Some went into it thinking this would be more of a Batman show, even though Bruce was only 12 years old at the time when it first began.

Imagine having to tell Jerome (the first Joker) in his face that they don’t like the show. He would probably no take it well at first before bursting into laughter.

5 Jerome’s Only 2 Options

When it was revealed that Jerome was, initially, Gotham’s own take on the Joker, it was a big deal that got a lot of fans talking. Some think that Joker shouldn’t have an origin story while others think it was neat to see a new take on one of Batman’s greatest villains.

That’s why this meme is pretty much the perfect description for Jerome as a whole. You either loved or hated him, simple as that.

4 From Freshman To Senior

Something that was pointed out by some Gotham fans was how the actors playing their characters’ younger counterparts looked like some past Batman-related actors. Camren Bicondova, who played Selina Kyle, looks like a young Michelle Pfeiffer who portrayed Catwoman in Batman Returns.

Looking at the actors growing into their characters was like seeing students in their freshman year. The series finale was essentially their senior year as they were now all grown up.

3 If The Riddler Trolled McDonald’s

Anyone who goes to McDonald’s knows how frustrating it can be whenever their ice cream machine is broken. For whatever reason, it happens way too often. The Riddler would probably be someone who enjoys a good McFlurry.

He would likely also be very petty with the staff anytime he was told that the machine was down again. If he had to riddle it to them, it would be this meme without a doubt.

2 Alfred & Bruce In A Nutshell

Whether it’s in the comics, other TV shows, or in the movies, Batman fans will always know how tricky Bruce’s relationship with Alfred Pennyworth can be. The faithful butler has been with Bruce for his entire life, which is why it can get frustrating when Bruce refuses to listen to him.

Gotham was no exception as Bruce would multiple times defy Alfred and do the complete opposite. It even got to a point where Bruce pretty much killed Alfred when he was manipulated. Thankfully, Alfred was revived and remained alive by the end of the show.

1 How Gordon Should Have Taken Gotham

One of Gotham City’s most optimistic people, if not the only one, was James Gordon. Gotham showed for 5 years how Gordon never gave up on fighting the corruption that was poisoning the city, even though the system was against him multiple times.

While Gordon managed to get the public’s support on his side, he could have taken it to a new level. Perhaps the word “Emperor” is something he’d avoid, but he could have managed to get people to vote for him as Gotham’s new mayor.
