Bruce Wayne is a boy with a horrific origin story about the loss of his parents. This ultimately makes him the hero he is known as today. This didn’t come easy though, throughout this journey he made some huge mistakes that just leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Throughout the Gotham series, Bruce Wayne made a considerable amount of mistakes. After all, he is a child who is forced to grow up considerably after the loss of his parents. In one short night, he goes from a careless child to a business CEO with a mansion to uphold and a case to solve.

As the show develops, viewers get to watch Bruce grow up and discover more about his parents, Gotham, and himself, turning him into the Dark Knight that Ra’s al Ghul predicted. However, it is impossible to not feel bad for Bruce Wayne during the five seasons. After all, he was only 8 years old when he lost his parents and seems to be manipulated a lot by people like Selina Kyle and many other villains he comes across.

10 Felt Bad: Death Of His Parents

However, most fans can’t help but disagree with the way Alfred and Bruce handled the situation. Bruce is supposed to be a kind and vigilant person, so when he and Alfred knock on Tommy’s door and Bruce beats him up with a watch as a knuckle duster, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. What he does there is wrong and just makes Bruce into a villain.

8 Felt Bad: Being Lied To

Although he is just a child, Bruce is smart and mature for his age. So when people begin lying to him, you certainly feel his rage. However, one event just makes you feel horrible for poor Bruce.

When Selina lies and manipulates Gordon and Bruce about knowing who the killer was, you can’t help but hate her. When the truth comes out about her lie, it’s done so nonchalantly that Bruce seems to be dumbfounded. Nevertheless, when she slips out of the house, he is visibly heartbroken.

7 Hated Him: Firing Alfred

After finding the Bat Cave, Alfred fears the amount of weaponry there and promptly destroys Thomas Wayne’s computer, much to Bruce’s bewilderment and anger.

In his rage, Bruce fires Alfred and yells at him to get out. Not only does Bruce make a horrible and impulsive decision, but he has now lost the only father figure he has. Luckily he realizes what he’s done and finds Alfred in the nick of time.

6 Felt Bad: His Life Being Threatened

When he becomes Batman, his life being threatened is just part of the job and most fans and viewers don’t bat an eyelid. However, when he’s just a child and just learning how to defend himself, you can’t help but feel bad.

He is nearly killed by assassins, magicians, and often people he doesn’t even know! All because he meddles where he shouldn’t. Although you feel bad for how many traumatic events this child has been through, most are somewhat grateful for it since it made him the badass Batman you see in comics, films, and shows today.

5 Hated Him: Fancying Silver St. Cloud

Both fans and Selina knew she was trouble from the start, so when Bruce decides to pursue the beautiful Silver St. Cloud, everyone begins despising him.

She is bad news and it changes Bruce a lot, as he ignores Selina and becomes arrogant and ignorant to the blatant manipulation that surrounds the whole relationship. Everyone watching knew she was a villain, so watching Bruce fall into her family’s trap is just frustrating.

4 Felt Bad: Trusting Silver St. Cloud

Even though everyone knew that she was bad news, it didn’t stop them from feeling terrible that she betrayed him. From that moment, every girl he falls for or meets seems to mess around and lie to him for their own personal gain.

Thankfully, Selina and Bruce had each other’s back and got the name of his parents’ killer. However, it didn’t distract from the fact that he was heartbroken and particularly hurt.

3 Hated Him: Torturing Himself

After the death of his parents, Bruce decided that he needed to be more resilient, both mentally and physically.

Watching an 8-year-old boy trying to burn himself and sitting in a swimming pool until he nearly drowns is frustrating to see as everyone fears for his wellbeing. He is clearly suffering from the loss of his parents but refuses to get any help. Instead, he opted to hurt himself and others.

2 Felt Bad: His Relationship With Selina

Selina Kyle is a confusing mix between hero and villain. She takes a bit of a shining towards Bruce Wayne and quickly becomes his first kiss. Bruce Wayne becomes sort of infatuated with Kyle, often helping her and giving her a place to stay or saving her life a few times.

However, it is extremely rare that she ever does the same for him. She constantly betrays him and gets him into trouble, even stealing from him! Ultimately, it’s sad how little she actually seems to care for him whilst he enjoys her company.

1 Hated Him: Becoming A Playboy

This had to have been one of the worst things Bruce Wayne did in the show. He loses himself completely and it is rather sad to watch as he spirals out of control.

Bruce becomes a bit of a playboy and womanizer for most of three episodes, as he parties all night, and gets pretty irritable and cocky about his money and the power he holds over people. To watch Bruce Wayne lose his kind and gentle self like this forces many viewers to despise him for a while.
