One of the most anticipated games slated to release in 2021 is definitely Gotham Knights. Set in its own separate universe from the beloved Batman: Arkham games, Gotham Knights shows how Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood follow in the footsteps of their fallen mentor Batman.

With a game completely structured around a team like the Bat-Family, the devs have said that there is room for growth. This likely means that more characters will be added via DLC and there are a lot of Bat-Family characters to choose from. Some are obviously shoo-ins for the game while others have smaller chances of being added.

10 Likely: Cassandra Cain

The daughter of Shiva, Cassandra Cain is one of Earth’s deadliest fighters. Whether she takes the name of Black Bat or Orphan, Cassandra would fit into this world; it’s been heavily hinted that the League Of Assassins are in the game so her mother and/or father would make for a fun boss fight.

Cassandra Cain also would add a fresh variety for Gotham Knights‘ gear and skin system. Fans would likely be able to choose which version of Cassandra they want: Batgirl, Black Bat, or Orphan.

9 Unlikely: The Signal

Duke Thomas has become a unique member of the Bat-Family since his creation. As much as The Signal has become a new and refreshing Gotham vigilante, he is not that famous with general gamers and audiences. Most would likely be confused as to who this bright yellow Batboy is.

However, fans of the character would still love to have him. The scythes combined with many skin variants for his yellow suit would make grinding fun. As a bonus, Gotham Knights could create their own take on Duke Thomas’ story in a world where Batman is supposedly dead.

8 Likely: Damian Wayne

As mentioned previously, the League Of Assassins is likely to be in Gotham Knights. If Batman is dead, then someone is not going to be happy with that: his own son. Damian Wayne, whether he is Robin or some other moniker would want to seek justice for his father.

Damian wields a sword which would definitely set his gameplay apart from the likes of Batgirl and Tim. Perhaps some extra abilities more akin to his training from the League Of Assasins.

7 Unlikely: Stephanie Brown

There is nothing wrong with Stephanie Brown. In the comics, she was a great successor to the Batgirl moniker despite her difficulty in training. Many fans would love to see Stephanie get more love since she has more or less faded into obscurity over the years.

Said obscurity is only a fraction as to why she would not be introduced. WB Games Montreal has made it clear that they want every Knight to play differently. In Stephanie’s case, unless she is drastically altered to fit a unique playstyle: she wouldn’t really provide anything different from Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl.

6 Likely: Huntress

Helena Bertinelli has had her quarrels with the Bat-Family in the past due to her lethal methods. However, if Jason Todd can agree to tame himself in Bruce Wayne’s name, so can the Huntress. Obviously, she has connections to the Bat-Family so fans would be curious to see how she is handling the death of her ally.

Gameplay-wise, Huntress would add crossbow and knife combat to the already diverse roster of weapons. Obviously, the character is also more popular because of Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey, and with Barbara Gordon, it could lead to a Birds Of Prey spin-off game.

5 Unlikely: Carrie Kelley

Like Stephanie Brown, Carrie Kelley is in dire need of a comeback. The character could be the next iconic female superhero of the DC universe but the comics seem to want to forget her. Carrie admires Batman so his death could easily be used as a reason why Carrie suits up as the new Robin to protect Gotham.

Unfortunately, other than her slingshot, she has no training. Carrie would be a great treat for fans of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns but unless revisioned to be very different, there are better characters to choose.

4 Likely: Batwing

What happens when one combines Batman with Iron Man? The result is Batwing, an exosuit-clad hero who happens to be the son of iconic Batman ally Lucius Fox. Obviously, the Batwing suit would provide a plethora of variants and gear options to choose from.

Batwing also shares the same ability as the vehicle of the same name: he can fly. That combined with all of his technological weapons, fighting style, and attitude would make for easily some of the best combat in Gotham Knights. Plus, Batwing would be another great superhero of color who gets much-deserved time in the spotlight.

3 Unlikely: The Question

During the first gameplay demo of Gotham Knights, Batgirl speaks with Renee Montoya through her comlink. Fans of the comics and Birds of Prey would remember that while Montoya is a great cop, she did become a superhero in the form of The Question in the former version.

The faceless mask, the fedora, the coat, it would all be perfect for the gear system. However, The Question is not that popular enough to warrant her own DLC slot. The truth is that more than likely, Montoya will remain a quest giver for the Knights a la Commissioner Gordon.

2 Likely: Batwoman

On the other hand, Renee Montoya’s appearance could be a way to introduce another character. Who? None other than Renee’s lover Kate Kane who just so happens to be the cousin of Bruce Wayne. Obviously, Kate would be affected by Bruce’s death and would be compelled to join the Knights.

Between the comics, her own series in the Arrowverse, and a standout appearance in the DC Animated Movie Universe, Kate has gained a large cult following. Add in some great gear and skins, Batwoman is guaranteed to be a DLC character.

1 Unlikely: Black Canary

With this being a brand new universe by WB Games Montreal, it would be nice if they expanded more into the DC lore. Using DLC as a way to tease other titles and spin-offs like for example, Black Canary. She has allied with Batman many times in the past and is a fellow brawler.

Dinah Lance’s powers would add extra flavor to her combat and as proven with Injustice 2, the gear system could have all kinds of fun with her design. As a plus, she could lead to a Green Arrow/Black Canary spin-off. So why is she unlikely? The devs are likely going to stick to the theme of Bat-Family members.
