In Grounded, players are not only forced to contend with the massive spiders and other deadly insects in the game, but must also stay alive by finding edible food and clean drinking water. During the game, the player has several stat meters that will tick down as their character becomes hungry or thirsty, and starvation and dehydration can be just as deadly if not deadlier than the in-game enemies. To combat this, it’s important to find sources of clean drinking water.

The good news is, with how tiny the character is, smaller water sources like dewdrops are plenty for the character to survive on. Still, finding and collecting this water without being eaten by a bigger predator will be challenging, especially early in the game when the player doesn’t yet have resources to gather dew. Droplets of water on grass are hard to come by, so players will want to keep their eyes on blades of grass and get whatever water they can. Here’s the fastest way to get drinkable water in Grounded.

Find Clean Drinking Water in Grounded

At the start of the game, players are most likely only going to be able to get their water from droplets that appear on blades of grass. This resource is a rare commodity, so it’s important to keep an eye out at all times when traversing grassy areas.

When there is some water on a blade of grass, the player only needs to hit the grass until the water droplet falls to the ground. Despite only being a tiny drop, this is enough for the player to drink from. They only need to get close to it and interact to quench their thirst and prevent an untimely demise.

Players can also get some water from the lake behind the big tree. This water should be fine for drinking, but the lake is somewhat out of the way, and traveling to it constantly can leave the player open to attack by predators.

Other sources of clean water include the honeydew left behind by Aphids, the empty juice boxes and soda cans in the backyard, and the nectar that pools in flowers.

Avoid drinking the water found in puddles or indented paths. As in real life, stagnant water is dangerous. In the game, it will drop a character’s hunger stat dramatically, making it an unsustainable way to survive. In a pinch, however, if a player is desperate, they should drink this water and find something to eat after.

Collect Clean Drinking Water in Grounded

There are a few ways to collect and store clean drinking water in the game once players have gotten established and unlocked new crafting recipes. A Canteen can help the player bring water wherever they go, which limits the time they will likely spend on the brink of dehydration. To make a Canteen, players will need to collect 3 Grub Hides and 2 Woven Fiber. They can collect water from the same droplets to save for later. Players should do this as soon as possible to improve their chances of survival.

Water Containers are good for water storage at bases. To get the recipe, crack acorns by the oak tree and use the Resource Analyzer to learn how to craft them. They require 3 Acorn Shells, 2 Woven Fibers, and 1 Clover Leaf. Water Containers can store more than one drop of water at a time at base.

Players can also craft a Dew Collector. They’ll find this by entering underground caves and breaking apart Quartzite to analyze. Once the player receives the recipe, they’ll need to gather 5 Woven Fiber, 6 Weed Stems, 8 Quartzite, and 5 Spider Silk. They can build the Dew Collector and have a constant and consistent water source.

Grounded is in early access and is available for PC and Xbox One. The full game is set to release in 2021.
