An upcoming new clothing category, set to release exclusively for Grand Theft Auto 5‘s launch on next-generation platforms in March, has been discovered in Grand Theft Auto Online‘s game files by dataminers. Despite releasing almost a decade ago, Grand Theft Auto Online‘s popularity continues with more and more players jumping into the extensive online sandbox title each year. With GTA Online becoming Twitch’s most-watched game in 2021 and the game breaking the player count record in 2020, GTA players and Rockstar Games have made it clear that the acclaimed multiplayer mode isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

As one of Rockstar’s most popular and lucrative game to date, Grand Theft Auto 5′s multiplayer mode continues to receive major updates and expansions that add new content and expand the title’s replayability and longevity. Due to its massive player base and continued financial success, a current-gen version of the latest entry is set release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this March. Current-gen players will be able to experience a revamped version of GTA 5 and its multiplayer mode with improved visuals and gameplay, shorter loading times and new features yet to be announced.

It looks like Rockstar Games may have accidentally left some files for the upgraded GTA 5 within Grand Theft Auto Online , seemingly revealing an exclusive clothing category. Discovered by dataminers and posted to Twitter, Grand Theft Auto leaker TezFunz2 claims that, in addition to the Character Transfer feature found by WildBrick142, a new next-gen clothing category nicknamed “Gen 9 Exclusive” has been found. While the items are unknown, the leaker believes that the exclusive feature is for players who are transferring characters to the Expanded & Enhanced version, and could be one of the bonuses Rockstar previously promised for returning players.

Even more information regarding the upcoming GTA 5 Expanded & Enhanced edition has been discovered due to the GTA Online update, and it appears that Rockstar Games might be making preparations to improve GTA Online for the enhanced release. According to dataminers, the latest “The Contract” update included numerous audio additions, including new Franklin sounds, mission passed themes, a new type of loading screen music, and much more also expected to appear in the new-gen version. Behind-the-scenes updates and improvements are perhaps to be expected, with the new-gen release on the horizon.

GTA 5 Expanded & Enhanced is expected to launch in less than two months and the only news regarding the title appears to be coming from dataminers as opposed to official Rockstar channels. With concern growing among fans, many are starting to wonder if rumors of the new GTA being delayed may be true. While it doesn’t seem likely Rockstar will respond to the datamined details, with just weeks until the new edition is expected to release, it’s hoped further news on the title is coming soon.
