A Grand Theft Auto Online player looking to bring the Olympics to Los Santos pulled off an impressive diving routine from atop an Avenger plane. Added to the game in 2017 as part of GTA Online‘s Doomsday Heist update, the Avenger continues to be a popular aircraft among players. It’s often referred to as a flying tank thanks to its ability to withstand copious amounts of damage and its offensive arsenal.

Nearly eight years on since release, GTA Online continues to remain popular thanks to continued support from Rockstar Games. The latest GTA Online update, Los Santos Tuners, centered around car culture and was a hit with the playerbase. It was the biggest update of the year so far, providing a whole new social hub in the form of Los Santos Car Meet. There, players can meet up and show off their cars and even watch others modify their vehicles. Los Santos Tuners also added new vehicles, races, and the ability to purchase an Auto Shop, but it understandably didn’t bring anything to the game’s sandbox that quite rivals the shenanigans that GTA Online players often get up to in the air.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Reddit user scps53770 shared their Olympic moment, pulling off an incredible dive into GTA Online‘s ocean from their Avenger plane. Sporting a less-than-athletic captain’s uniform for their dive, the aspiring Los Santos Olympian started on top of the Avenger and made a running start towards the tail of the plane, leaping off as the aircraft exploded. The athlete’s form was off for a brief moment, as (in typical GTA fashion) they flailed around for a few seconds while free-falling. Quickly, though, they got into a diving position with their arms ahead of them as they prepared for a head-first entry into the ocean. Although the player asked fellow Redditors to rate their dive out of 10, it seemed that the Los Santos Police Department also wanted to provide some input, hilariously giving the diver a two-star wanted level just before they hit the water.

Perhaps equally impressive was how the dive’s platform was set up, requiring scps53770 to fly the Avenger into place via autopilot before positioning an Oppressor, a GTA Online stunt favorite above the aircraft. They then parachuted down onto the Avenger. Redditors chimed in as requested to rate the dive, many giving scps53770’s performance a perfect 10, clearly impressed with the death-defying stunt. Others jokingly gave ratings according to real Olympic diving standards. They criticized the dive’s difficulty level due to its lack of twists or flips, as well as the player’s shaky form during the beginning of the performance, which would likely put scps53770 out of medal contention.

Players of GTA V‘s online component continue to find new and interesting ways to entertain themselves in-game, with some players even using it as platform to host things like GTA Online soccer talk shows. Although the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have already concluded, scps53770’s creative diving performance gives fans a brief glimpse of what it could be like if the Olympics came to Los Santos.
