An amazing Nvidia GeForce casemod inspired by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy allows countless games, including the sci-fi adventure itself, to run on Star-Lord’s iconic cassette player. Eidos-Montreal’s cosmic adventure puts players in the jet-boots of Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord, as he leads his band of outer space outlaws on an epic single-player journey. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy boasts countless Easter eggs, many of them pertaining to Star-Lord’s childhood on Earth in the 1980s.

Like Marvel’s live-action adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy, Eidos-Montreal emphasized music when creating the recent video game experience. The action-adventure title features an extensive soundtrack of 80’s hits, featuring performers ranging from KISS to Motley Crue to Rick Astley. While these songs often accompany quiet moments while players explore the Milano and talk to their teammates, music also comes into play during combat. The game’s Huddle Up system lets players pause the action to deliver a motivating speech, and the power-up also blasts a random song from Star-Lord’s cassette player to pump up the team. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy even lets players guide a llama with music in a particularly humorous puzzle segment.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A unique cosmic creation, posted to Twitter by NVIDIA GeForce UK, turns Star-Lord’s cassette player from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy into a gaming console. Created by BTcustomPC, the tiny portable gaming system is powered by NVIDIA SHIELD TV and utilizes GeForce Now to stream games. On the outside, the casemod perfectly resembles Star-Lord’s in-game cassette player, complete with stickers, headphones, and some wear-and-tear. However, opening the player reveals a 5-inch screen that lets the wielder play all manner of games through GeForce Now, including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy itself. The headphone port even appears to work, meaning that users can accurately mimic Star-Lord while gaming.

While the game’s emphasis on music does draw parallels to the team’s live-action films, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy also pays extensive tribute to the outer space outlaws’ comic book origins. The five main characters’ personalities are all similar to their Marvel Cinematic Universe counterparts, but their backstories and appearances also draw heavily from the pages of Marvel Comics. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features alternate comic book origin outfits for each hero, allowing players to pay their respects to the team’s more colorful and outlandish designs of the past. Countless Easter eggs throughout the game also reference other notable comic figures such as Nova, Moondragon and Yondu.

Star-Lord’s cassette player is not a mere prop in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, since music plays a huge role in both story moments and intense combat sequences. Now, thanks to BTcustomPC and NVIDIA GeForce Now, the iconic cassette player can even be used to play the action game itself. The tiny console is easily portable, and its design is just as stylish as its in-game counterpart. In a bizarre bit of irony, the casemod allows Star-Lord’s cassette player in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy to be played on Star-Lord’s cassette player.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and GeForce Now.
