Halle Berry has said she’s open to reprising her comic book roles of X-Men‘s Storm and Catwoman, following recent legacy comebacks in superhero movies. The Oscar-winning actress was the first Woman of Color to win the Best Actress Academy Award for Monsters Ball, but has also made a name for herself in Hollywood as a blockbuster leading lady. Berry helped launch the Marvel movie trend in the 2000s when she starred as Storm in X-Men. She reprised that role twice more in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, before a small appearance in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Over at DC, Berry also took on the iconic role of Catwoman in 2004, which proved a box office bomb and earned Berry a Razzie nomination.

Despite the contrasting audience reaction to her two superhero roles, Berry enjoyed her time on both franchises, looking back on them fondly for years to come. In recent years, the actor has focused on her personal life, but has recently returned to her big-screen career with several projects. Berry made her directorial debut with Netflix’s sports-drama Bruised late last year, which she said was partly inspired by her new responsibilities as a parent. Now, Berry is returning to the blockbuster world as an action lead in Roland Emmerich’s new sci-fi disaster movie Moonfall.

In an interview with Comicbook, the Moonfall star was asked about the recent trend of long-awaited comebacks in the superhero movie genre. With recent examples including Michael Keaton as Batman in The Flash, or several characters from the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb Spider-Man movies in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Berry was asked if she would consider reprising either of her iconic comic-book roles. Berry answers definitively “I would revisit any of them,” reiterating that she “loved” the characters. The actress is very keen to revisit both Storm and Catwoman, and says that she felt “grateful” to be involved in both big properties. Read her full quote below:

“I would revisit any of them, actually … I loved all of those characters and I was always grateful to get to play them and be a part of those big franchises, you know? So I would revisit any of them.”

Berry’s love for both her previous comic-book roles is very clear. Recently, the star took to social media to joke about her Catwoman film, as she praised the retroactive love that the once-maligned movie was getting from a small sector of fans online. For now, however, Berry has expressed her happiness at handing the torch over to Zoë Kravitz, who is set to take up the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. Berry’s recent comments are also not the first time that the star has teased a potential return to her X-Men role, saying during an interview in December last year that she would be open to appearing as the MCU’s Storm “if [Marvel] could find a storyline that would make sense.”

The door to both possibilities becomes increasingly open, as both the Marvel and DC franchises begin to deal with multiverse-based stories. DC’s The Flash is set to see multiple Batman actors crossover, following in the footsteps of Marvel’s recent hit with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is also heavily rumored to feature several huge cameos from Marvel’s past, which could provide a perfect opportunity for Berry’s X-Men friends to make one last appearance. Fans of both DC and Marvel will be excited by the news, whether they loved Catwoman or not, and would definitely be open to seeing the award-winning icon return to her most recognisable roles.
