Halloween Ends‘ Michael Myers actor, James Jude Courtney, celebrates his filming wrap in a new behind-the-scenes photo. The actor/stunt performer is best known for his roles as Der Kindestod in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Myers in 2018’s Halloween and its sequel, Halloween Kills. Fans of the franchise have appreciated Courtney’s unsettling performance as the horror icon and its resemblance to Nick Castle’s famous portrayal, with many considering it to be the best since. John Carpenter’s original 1978 film has established both a devoted following and a reputation as a genre staple in the decades after its release, and with the latest trilogy serving as a direct follow-up, fans have been eager to find out how it all concludes.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Halloween Ends will be the thirteenth installment in the film franchise and is set to showcase the climax of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers’ saga, which dates back to over forty years ago. In addition to Courtney, the project will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Kyle Richards from Halloween Kills, with Michael O’Leary being featured as Dr. Mathis, a character only mentioned in last year’s film. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022, and this week it was confirmed that filming for Halloween Ends had wrapped.

Now, Courtney turns to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo celebrating the wrap on Halloween Ends. He calls the whole process a “ride” and is seen in the image with set photographer Ryan Green. He acknowledges Green’s work on all three films, telling fans that a lot of the pictures he posts come from him – and teasing that there is more content to come. Intended to be the Halloween reboot’s final installment, Halloween Ends will likely be bittersweet for much of its cast. While Courtney and Turek seem enthusiastic about the impending end, series star Curtis has shared how emotional the journey was. Opening up about saying goodbye to a character she spent 44 years with, she said that honoring Laurie Strode has been painful, yet fulfilling. Curtis has also posted her own series of behind-the-scenes photos following her wrap, recognizing all of those involved in the movies’ success, especially the fans. She thanked her co-stars, including her “nemesis” Courtney, and said that she cannot wait for audiences to see Halloween Ends.

As fans look forward to the conclusion of Halloween, it will be interesting to see where director David Gordon Green decides to go with it, and following the shocking final moments of Halloween Kills, fans will likely expect a few surprises. There are not many other horror movie fanbases as loyal as Halloween‘s, and with Carpenter suggesting the franchise will end with this project, they will almost certainly show up to support it. As the cast and crew continue to reflect on the filming experience, audiences will be eagerly awaiting Halloween Ends‘ official release.
