Halloween Kills originally featured one shot of the original Michael Myers actor, Nick Castle, but the scene didn’t make the movie’s final cut. The sequel to 2018’s Halloween released earlier this Fall and picked up immediately where the events of the last film left off. Audiences saw the return of Michael Myers as he tore his way through the town of Haddonfield, while the original final girl, Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode, tried to stop him for good. Alongside Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak returned as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively, to help take down the man who traumatized their matriarch back in 1978.

As Myers’ face is almost always concealed by an expressionless white mask, a number of actors have taken on the mantle of this slasher icon over the years. James Jude Courtney is the most recent actor to step into the blue boiler suit, as he took on the role of Michael for both Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills and is set to return in Halloween Ends in 2022. The name more commonly associated with the faceless killer, however, is Nick Castle, who originated the role in John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) alongside Curtis, who made her feature film debut with the film.

Now, it’s been revealed that Castle actually appeared as Myers for one brief shot in Halloween Kills, but the scene was ultimately cut from the movie. Sean Clark details the scene on his podcast The Thing With Two Headswhich he hosts alongside Halloween Kills makeup designer, Christopher Nelson. Clark explains that the scene in which Castle appeared is “supposedly gonna be on the DVD or Blu-ray” and then gives a bit of insight into what the shot included. Check out Clark’s full quote below:

People keep asking what scene Nick Castle was in. He was in a scene that got cut, that’s supposedly gonna be on the DVD or Blu-ray. It was a POV shot from the drone going into the bathroom and you see his reflection in the mirror. That was the shot.

Castle actually previously stated that he thought his scene in Halloween Kills might get cut, due to the nature of the shot, but that he hoped it would still be included. This is not the first time the original Myers actor has reprised his role in cameo form – he similarly appeared in a single shot in 2018’s Halloween, appearing through a window and offering a slow head-tilt, referencing a famous moment from his original performance. While Courtney may be the Shape behind the mask now, Castle still provides the ADR breathing for Myers, so it’s nice to see that he still has some ongoing involvement with the franchise.

It is not known why this particular scene was cut, but since Myers doesn’t offer up much in the way of conversation, it’s likely that the scene was similar to a handful of others performed by Courtney and simply wasn’t as necessary as the director had originally planned. It will certainly be interesting to see if this scene does make it onto the DVD, as it’s already been teased that the home release of Halloween Killswill include an extended version of the film with an alternate ending. This also begs the question of whether Castle will feature at all in the concluding film of the reboot trilogy, Halloween Ends, but audiences will likely have to wait until next October to find out.
