The highly-anticipated Halo Infinite Forge mode has apparently leaked, showing off features such as weather effects and custom assets. The extremely popular mode, which allows players to edit their own levels using a set of accessible tools, has been a staple of the sci-fi shooter saga since 2007’s Halo 3. 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite lacked Forge at launch, but the developer has assured players that the beloved feature will be added in a future update.

Despite a long and turbulent development, Halo Infinite released last year to acclaim from fans and critics. The first-person shooter’s free-to-play multiplayer component released in November 2021, allowing gamers to once again compete in a variety of modes like Capture the Flag and Deathmatch. Halo Infinite’s single-player story campaign followed in December, with the latest installment in Master Chief’s ongoing saga adopting a unique open-world format. While the game was seen as a return to form for the franchise, many fans were frustrated by series staples that were noticeably absent from the newest entry. Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op and Forge mode are the two most highly-requested features, but developer 343 Industries unfortunately delayed both past their initial January 2022 launch window.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Halo Infinite’s Forge has seemingly leaked, Video Games Chronicle reports, with footage and screenshots revealing multiple features of the upcoming level editor. The leak seems to originate from the InfiniteLeaks Twitter account, which shared a number of screenshots and videos of the game’s unreleased mode. The leaks show off several features of the upcoming Forge, including alternate weather effects and time-of-day for various maps. YouTuber FootedGhost posted a video of Halo Infinite’s Forge, too, showing off a snowy version of the Fragmentation map and a nighttime variant of Bazaar.

While many fans are frustrated by the delay of Halo Infinite’s Forge, leaks and rumors suggest that the upcoming feature will be worth the wait. Alongside brand-new weather effects and assets, leaks suggest that Halo Infinite’s Forge will include mission scripting to let gamers create their own custom missions. While past versions of Forge could create unique maps for a multiplayer battle, the feature was purely for multiplayer. Mission scripting, meanwhile, could allow for completely original single-player or co-op missions created by fans.

Halo Infinite managed to impress gamers despite numerous delays, but now many fans are clamoring for the launch of Forge mode. The level editor’s recent leak gives sci-fi shooter fans a glimpse at the upcoming mode, and it also suggests that the feature may launch in the near future. With the ability to add brand-new weather effects and introduce new assets, Forge will breathe new life into Halo Infinite’s maps.

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
