A new custom Xbox Series X controller is modeled after Halo’s Needler gun and is available for purchase ahead of the upcoming Halo Infinite. The trusty Covenant sidearm has been a popular weapon in the Halo franchise since the very first game, firing glowing purple crystals that explode after hitting their target.

Custom Xbox Series X controllers are also all the rage, thanks to the Xbox Design Lab. Since the popular website was brought back a few months ago, fans have been making their own designs based on games like Pokémon Platinum and even TV shows like Loki. That isn’t getting into Microsoft’s own official alternate Xbox layouts (such as June’s rainbow-colored Pride Month design), or even custom fan paint jobs like Linus Sebastian’s pricy solid gold Series X controller.

According to Game Informer, noted custom controller designer Pope Art revealed his newest masterpiece earlier this week: the Halo Infinite “Pins & Needles” Xbox Series X Controller. This striking dual design has a Covenant-inspired purple hexagon pattern on the left side, with three of the Needler’s signature energy shards decorating the grip. The right side is a gunmetal grey, with pale blue buttons that evoke Master Chief’s longtime AI companion Cortana. Even better, fans can purchase the custom “Pins & Needles” controller for themselves on Trezn.com, but it comes with a hefty $149.99 price tag.

Pope Art’s custom Xbox Series X controller comes right as Halo Infinite is getting ready to launch later this year. While an exact release date hasn’t been revealed yet, developer 343 Industries promises that the game will be out in time for the holidays, and a recent Krispy Kreme advertisement in Mexico might have let it slip that Infinite is planned to launch in November to commemorate the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo Infinite was famously delayed last year due to a disastrous early showing at an Xbox Games Showcase, but more recent reveals have been met with a warmer reception as hype builds for the latest installment of Microsoft’s monumental sci-fi shooter franchise.

In the meantime, Pope Art’s custom Halo Infinite “Pins & Needles” Xbox Series X controller has a great design that perfectly captures the look of the iconic Needler gun – along with the blue buttons and glowing Xbox logo that really pop. The $149.99 price might be a little steep for some, but the “Pins & Needles” Xbox Series X controller could be a cool way for players willing to spend some extra cash to jump into Halo Infinite when the game finally launches later this year.
