During the Pelican Down mission in Halo Infinite, Master Chief will take on two of the hardest bosses, Tovarus and Hyperius. Master Chief will face both bosses simultaneously. With strategy, however, this fight can go from brutal to simply lengthy. Players should focus on taking out one boss at a time, keeping track of their more powerful Halo Infinite weapons, strategically maneuvering to avoid damage, and consistently hitting both bosses to prevent enemy shields from recharging.

Each boss fight in Halo Infinite will require a specific strategy, and some even require specific weaponry. While players will need to swap between long-range, shield breaking, and close-range weapons in the fight with Tovarus and Hyperius, they won’t need to use weapons as specific as those required to succeed in the boss fight with Chak ‘Lok.

Although Master Chief faces Tovarus and Hyperius at the same time in Halo Infinite, players should take on Hyperius first. Tovarus won’t bother to chase players around the area. He’ll stick to the higher ground firing a cannon from the distance and hiding. Hyperius, meanwhile, will chase players down and attack if they attempt to face anything other than him.

Preparing to Take on Hyperius and Tovarus in Halo Infinite

To fight Hyperius in Halo Infinite, players will need wreckage for cover and space to move and land shots. The crashed ship on the East side of the area is the best place from which to fight him. However, before initiating the fight, players should be prepared with the right weapons and even some extra help if possible.

Finding a nearby base or area with NPC marines to rescue ahead of the fight will help Master Chief deal with the brutes and minions that spawn alongside Tovarus and Hyperius. To take on Hyperius, players should use a rocket launcher or any other weapon that will damage his helicopter. They should also bring a weapon to break his shield, like the Pulse Carbine.

If players take on Hyperius first, Halo Infinite’s battle with Tovarus will be an easier fight. Master Chief should have the following loadout prepared to battle Tovarus:

  • Sniper Rifle – Used to hit Tovarus from long distance
  • Sentinel Beam – Used to drain Tovarus’ shield
  • Grenades – Used to blast Tovarus when in hiding

Having NPC marines with Master Chief can also help players succeed against this second boss.

Fighting Hyperius in Halo Infinite

When players first encounter Hyperius, he’ll be on a helicopter. The chopper can take damage, so players should fire at it until it is destroyed. Afterward, Hyperius will be grounded in battle. Master Chief should attack him with the Pulse Carbine to bring his shields down and avoid hits from the Ravager by standing behind trees, rocks, or ship scraps.

Like in the fight with Tremonius in Halo Infinite, once Hyperius’ shield is gone, players must consistently land shots against him, or his shield will replenish. This is tough if players need to find new weapons or maneuver around while fighting him. A good strategy would be to use the grapple to move forward quickly or to grab nearby weapons easily. Players should also remember to use Master Chief’s shield wall when needed.

Fighting Tovarus in Halo Infinite

With Hyperius out of the way, players can focus on sniping Tovarus. He’ll be using a Scrap Canon, which means Master Chief should keep his distance. If players move too far away, however, Tovarus will go hide in a shelter. This is where the grenades come in handy, as Master Chief can meet him inside and throw grenades at him.

As with any other boss featured in Halo Infinite, players will need to keep Tovarus’ shield down by maneuvering and firing consistently. This is another reason why taking on the Tovarus and Hyperius bosses separately makes sense; if Master Chief fights them simultaneously, the other’s shield will have time to replenish, making the battle nearly endless.

Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
