Halo: The Master Chief Collection: Multiplayer Tips & Tricks

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has everything Halo fans want: multiple games in one package and a ton of other content. It also offers multiplayer for fans to enjoy outside of playing the single-player campaigns and the DLC added content. Each game in the anthology has its own multiplayer that fans can enjoy getting the feeling of how each title differs from one another.

That being said, there are tips and tricks beneficial across all the games. While each may differ, every title in the collection shares some of the same advice when it comes to multiplayer. Here are tips and tricks for multiplayer in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. 

Each Game’s Multiplayer Differs From One Another

Each game multiplayer differs greatly from title to title. Halo: The Master Chief Collection does not feature one giant multiplayer that uses all the games to make it up and each game does not always have features the others have. For instance, Halo does not possess all the multiplayer maps Halo 2 has.

It is important for players to note this because while it is fun to have multiple Halo games in one collection, it is also important to understand they do not contain the same features in certain areas. So players will need to learn the differences between each game’s multiplayer to know what they are getting themselves into.

Understanding The Multiplayer Playlists

To help differentiate the different games’ multiplayer components, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has multiplayer playlists. This feature has different lists that vary in terms of what game they are specific to and/or certain game modes.

For example, the list “Team Halo 2: Anniversary,” features a mix of game modes and maps specific to Halo 2: Anniversary. Other playlists function similarly but there are playlists that are across multiple games such as “Team Slayer,” which features Team Slayer mode across Halo: Combat Evolved through Halo 3. The collection’s multiplayer playlists help players differentiate between the various titles within Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Learning The Different Weapons Between Games

Every game in the collection has varying weapons that can be utilized in multiplayer. Certain weapons are exclusive to the game they are in so they will not appear in the other titles. It is essential for players to look through the different games and see which weapons are best to use in multiplayer.

For example, each game has its own version of a pistol that is specific to that title. Players will need to look through the different games to see their weapon inventory to help get a better idea of what’s the best weapon to utilize in their respective games.

Learning How Armors Work Across The Different Games

Each game in the anthology collection has varying degrees with how players can customize their armor and/or its abilities. This can help greatly in multiplayer, but as the weapons, it is important to understand how the customization works in each entry.

Halo: Reach, a recent addition to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, has a mix and match customization system for armors. The other titles will not have this level of customization, such as Halo 3 and Halo 4 since they only have armor presets and no mix and match. Armor mechanics work differently across the games so players should be wary of this.

Learning The Different Modes Across All Games

While some aspects of multiplayer differ from game to game, one thing that remains largely the same is the different multiplayer modes. All the games have similar multiplayer game modes whilst having certain modes exclusive to particular games.

Team Slayer is one game mode that can be played across most games in the anthology collection. Spartan Ops, however, is exclusive to Halo 4 since it debuted with that game title. Halo: The Master Chief Collection offers multiplayer modes that remain the same but can also vary between the different titles.
