British actor Hugh Dancy wowed Hannibal fans by reinventing the role of Will Graham, and here’s what he’s done since the popular show ended. While not to the same degree as co-star Mads Mikkelsen, who was faced with taking over a role Anthony Hopkins won an Oscar for, it’s safe to say that Dancy had fairly large shoes to fill in assuming the part of Will Graham. Future CSI lead William Petersen played Will in Michael Mann’s 1986 Red Dragon adaptation Manhunter, and Oscar nominee Edward Norton played Will in 2003’s Red Dragon movie.

Thankfully, Hannibal, created by Bryan Fuller, wasn’t content to simply be a retelling of what fans already knew about Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham, Jack Crawford, and other famous characters from Thomas Harris’ literary franchise. Instead, Hannibal became a sort of alternate universe, one in which some plots and characters were similar to past versions, while others took sharp left turns and went in never before seen directions.

While Mikkelsen’s Hannibal was clearly the star of the show, Dancy’s Will was just as integral to its success. While fans continue to hope the two actors reunite for a Hannibal revival, it’s time to take a look at what Dancy has gotten up to since last indulging in Hannibal and Will’s bizarre love story.

Hannibal: What Hugh Dancy Has Done Since Playing Will Graham

Following the series finale of Hannibal, Hugh Dancy’s first post-Will Graham role came providing the voice of Daredevil, among other characters, on a 2016 episode of Adult Swim’s long-running animated series Robot Chicken, a gig Dancy would repeat in 2018. Also in 2016, Dancy snagged another leading role on Hulu’s acclaimed religious drama The Path, playing Cal Roberts for all three seasons. Cal was a man so charismatic and convincing that he could talk just about anyone into just about anything, a great skill to have when trying to expand the membership of what’s essentially a cult.

In 2018, Dancy provided the voice of historical figure Alleyne Ireland in the documentary Joseph Pulitzer: Voice of the People, which looked at the life and career of the legendary journalist for which the Pulitzer Prize is named. In 2019, Dancy appeared as late night talk show writer Charlie Fain in the Amazon Studios dramedy film Late Night, opposite Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling. Dancy’s biggest recent role came on the final season of Showtime’s acclaimed political drama Homeland, playing malevolent presidential adviser John Zabel, one of the biggest jerks in the history of the show. Amusingly, his real-life wife Claire Danes plays the lead on Homeland, making one wonder why she wanted him cast in such a villainous part. Finally, Dancy has appeared on a few episodes of CBS All Access legal drama The Good Fight as lawyer Caleb Garlin, a considerably nicer guy.
