There will some new ‘robots in disguise’ hitting the shelves soon, as Screen Rant can exclusively announce that Hasbro is releasing an all-new line of Transformers: BotBots toys based on the upcoming Netflix series of the same name.  The new Transformers: BotBots streaming series is based on the toy company’s popular Transformers: BotBots toy line that debuted in 2018. The line features 1-inch collectible cartoony, robots that, like their namesakes, change into everyday objects in just 3-5 easy steps.  The franchise’s continued success allowed it to expand into books, a mini-comic, a set of convention exclusives, and a slew of other items.

BotBots follows its own continuity and timeline and, for the most part, ignores any previous Transformers incarnations. Instead, the new franchise introduced a slew of “squads” depending on the retailers or locations where they were brought to life within the mall. The BotBots were created when a cloud of Energon gas drifted through a retail mall, transforming tools, gadgets, furniture, food, toys, sporting goods, and just about everything else into small transforming robots. The BotBots conceal throughout the day and cause havoc at night.

The newest figures, Series 6 in the toy line, includes more than 75 characters, including like French Fries, Waffle, Caution Wet Floor Sign and Burger, all of whom will be featured on the new Netflix series. Each character belongs to a different squad depending on the mall store they were found in. Here is a list of the characters included in Series 6, as well as the squad to which they belong. The items are for ages 5 and up and will be available to pre-order exclusive on Amazon.com starting at 1pm ET on March 23rd and will ship Spring 2023.

Transformers: BotBots is a new 10-episode animated comedy series following the mischievous little Transformers robots, otherwise known as BotBots. BotBots are Transformers robots that disguise themselves as everyday mall objects. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on store shelves but at night, they jump into adventure until a group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the bots in danger. The The Lost Bots try overcome their differences and defeat the security guard, while at the same time try to gain acceptance in the eyes of the other bots. Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Spider-Man, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) serve as executive producers and showrunners.

Apart from Transformers: BotBots, the Transformers series has a variety of film and television projects in the pipeline. The first in a new trilogy of live-action films based on the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts franchise will be released in June 2023. In addition to the new trilogy, Paramount is working on an animated feature film with Josh Cooley, who directed Toy Story 4, that will be released in June 2024, and the upcoming Transformers: Earthspark series will premiere on Nickelodeon. Transformers: BotBots looks to be a more light-hearted take on the franchise, and seems to be targeted at the same pre-teen demographics as shows like Teen Titans Go! and The Amazing World of Gumball.

Transformers: BotBots, premieres on Netflix on March 25, with Series 6 of the toy line available for preorder exclusively on Amazon.
