A dog dressed up in a Hellraiser costume turns Pinhead into horror’s cutest villain at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade. Hellraiser was released in 1987 and was directed by Clive Barker. The film tells the story of a woman who, after discovering the partially resurrected body of her brother-in-law, starts killing unsuspecting victims in order to bring him fully back to life. The central villain in the film, Pinhead, played by Doug Bradley, is the leader of a group known as the Cenobites, a group of extra-dimensional beings who can no longer differentiate between pain and pleasure and enjoy torturing humans.

The film spawned ten sequels with the latest, Hellraiser: Judgement, having released in 2018. David Bruckner, director of The Night House, is set to reboot the movie for Hulu with Jamie Clayton taking over the role of Pinhead. The cast for the reboot will reportedly include Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, and Hiam Abbass. A separate Hellraiser series is reportedly in development at HBO Max with David Gordon Green attached to direct the pilot, but details about the project remain scarce.

In a recent Instagram post from newyorknico, a cute Chihuahua can be seen dressed up as Pinhead. The small dog is wearing a leather outfit complete with a pin-studded hood made to resemble Pinhead’s own terrifying head decorations. The costume was part of the annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, one of the largest of its kind in the world, and now in its 31st year. Check out the cute dog costume below:

The canine Pinhead doesn’t seem to mind his new costume all that much and is held lovingly in his owner’s arms. The adorable pooch even has his tongue sticking slightly out, adding to the goofiness of it all. Other pictures in the carousel show off just how big of a deal the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade is and the lengths people will go to have the best-looking dog of the bunch. Other dog costumes pictured in the post include the Blue Origin Rocket, a Tootsie Roll, a Dunkin Donuts employee, and the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz.

“Cute” isn’t often a word associated with horror villains, but Chihuahua Pinhead can hardly be described as anything else. The tiny creature is so adorable it might just make the actual Hellraiser films less scary by association. When the reboot does eventually release, it’s likely that the new approach will be decidedly less cute and more terrifying, but, for now, audiences can rest assured that if this four-legged Pinhead does come to haunt them, instead of wanting to “tear their soul apart,” it probably just wants a cuddle.
