Kori Sutton is trying to win Hell’s Kitchen season 19. The Latina chef has an impressive work ethic and seems to remain cool under pressure in Las Vegas. Fans are wondering if she has what it takes to win the competition. Judging by her background, she is up to the challenge.

So far in the competition, Kori has been a fierce competitor who’s impressed uber-rich and entrepreneurial chef Gordon Ramsay. She’s well-rounded, adaptable, and just keeps proving herself. A standout from the start, Kori has been acting as the de facto leader of the red team for a while now. Though she can be strict, she’s also able to find moments of levity. This has led her to develop many friendships with her fellow competitors.

As Kori explains in episode 1, she was born in L.A. but moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at a young age. She got used to spending time in the kitchen early on, thanks to her family running a catering business. Kori started her own professional culinary career in Puerto Vallarta. At 16, she apprenticed at Café des Artistes, an upscale French-Mexican fusion spot. From there, she continued to move up, eventually serving as a sous chef at the high-end steakhouse, BocaDos STK.

After making her mark in Mexico, Kori moved back to Los Angeles seven years ago. She found work quickly and was employed as an executive and private chef when she was cast on Hell’s Kitchen season 19. In addition to being a culinary mastermind, the 37-year-old is a proud mom to a 15-year-old son, Koa. In fact, being a mother is such a big part of her identity that Kori’s Instagram bio reads, “Proud Latina Chef & Mom.” She also has her very own salsa line, Mama Kori’s Salsa.

Given how easily Kori has adapted to the tough standards that are set in Hell’s Kitchen, it may come as no surprise that this isn’t her first time on television. Previously, she appeared in an episode of the first season of Cutthroat Kitchen and actually won the episode (and $7,700). She also appeared on Top Chef Mexico, but unfortunately didn’t rise to the top.

As Hell’s Kitchen season 19 continues to air, will Kori continue impressing Gordon Ramsay with her ability to deliver strong performances, or be subjected to the brutal insults that he aims at subpar competitors?. Will she stay calm, no matter how many complications she faces? It’s possible that this early favorite will fall short and crack under the pressure.
