Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Detroit: Become Human.

There are many, many available endings in Detroit: Become Human. Perhaps the best one sees everyone with a happy ending. It is necessary to maintain relationships, groom the public image of the Androids, and get very good at Quick Time Events to pull it off. But a perfectly happy ending is possible in this game.

Characters can die shortly after they are first introduced, thus drastically shortening play time, or they can be kept alive throughout the entirety of the game. Though the player only plays as three different characters throughout the majority of the story, there are actually 10 (yes, 10) characters required to be alive in order to get the best possible ending for the game. The task may seem insurmountable, but it’s not impossible to keep all of them alive through the end. Once achieved, the player will receive the “Survivors” trophy. This guide will help players walk through this achievement.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Markus

Starting off with Markus – his actions help to determine the fate of literally everyone else in the game. Markus is the leader of the Android revolution. His love interest is pro-war, but try to play peacefully. Avoid violence whenever possible and choose to send several peaceful messages to the public. Eventually, humans will see that Androids are behaving non-violently despite the government’s violent actions and will win their favor.

During Markus’ first encounter with the police following the Android March, be sure to flee, rather than fight or stand his ground. If Markus should choose to fight, he will risk starting a violent revolution, rather than a peaceful one. If he stands his ground, Markus will be executed by the police.

When the revolution hits full-swing, continue to be neutral. Markus and the Androids will set up a blockade, so send as many friendly messages to the media as possible. When offered a deal to betray the Androids and end the war, refuse. The military will attack. Complete QTE’s to keep Markus and his friends alive, but continue not to fight. Choosing to sing in the face of the Androids’ potential demise will win the favor of the public and end the war. And be sure to keep Connor from being hacked by Amanda so as to prevent him from executing Markus during his final speech.

North

Keeping North alive is very simple. When she is injured during the raid on Jericho, choose to save her. When Agent Perkins’ offers a truce to Markus in the final stages of the revolution, refuse. She will not be in any serious danger throughout the rest of the game. Becoming lovers with North is possible whether or not the player chooses to go against her wishes to hold a violent revolution. She will respect many of Markus’ choices when executed successfully anyway.

Josh And Simon

Josh is the easiest character to keep alive. When Markus finds him during the assault on Jericho in the Crossroads chapter, players should choose to intervene when the soldiers threaten him. It’s really that simple.

Simon is a little more difficult, however. When attempting to hack the broadcast tower, be sure not to attack the two guards outside the broadcasting room. North may attack them instead, or Markus could incapacitate them. Either choice could lead to Simon being injured, but he will survive this. Once the Androids make their escape to the building’s rooftop, Markus will have to leave Simon behind. Make sure that he has a weapon, though, and chooses not to end his life. When the gamer plays as Connor, they should choose not to investigate the roof. Instead, head to the kitchen to interrogate the station Androids. Simon will eventually make his way back to Jericho.

Connor

Connor is as close to immortal as a character can get in this game. He can actually die multiple times and come back with his memory uploaded into another, identical machine. It is possible to earn a trophy for allowing Connor to die at every opportunity before he becomes a Deviant. However, keeping Connor friendly with Hank is easier if he retains his memory. It’s not impossible to become friends with Hank after each Connor dies, but be sure to tread carefully. Be sure to keep from being too aggressive with Hank and search for clues to Hank’s personality at every opportunity and choose to spare Chloe’s when faced with this decision. If Connor has done his homework, then when faced with a rival Connor in the Battle For Detroit, he will be able to talk about Hank’s son and dog to get Hank to spare his life.
