A new Godzilla vs. Kong image teases the conflict between the two titanic beasts. The next MonsterVerse epic is bringing together the two most iconic monsters in popular culture. Fans were looking forward to seeing Godzilla’s bout with Kong in November, but the film was delayed to May, 2021.

The road to Godzilla vs. Kong has been trying for fans. Although the gap between MonsterVerse installments will technically be the shortest, Warner Bros. has been rather quiet regarding the film. Whereas marketing began early for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Warner Bros. has kept Godzilla vs. Kong close to the vest. There has been no trailers or publicly-released teasers. While frustrating, after Godzilla: King of the Monsters under-performed, it’s understandable the company may want to try a different marketing approach. Also, there hasn’t been total silence. Back in March, star Eiza González said she thinks fans will be “really happy” with the film. Although there is still no trailer, a new image has appeared, giving a grand look at the upcoming battle.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Godzilla vs. Kong has received a detailed image highlighting the two characters colliding atop an aircraft carrier. This image can be found on the back packaging of Playmates’ upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong toys. Along with the picture, the toys also come with a new plot synopsis. Check out the Godzilla vs. Kong synopsis and picture (via Feelin’ Film Podcast) below.

“Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages! The monster war rages on the surface and deep within our world as the spectacular secret realm of the titans known as the Hollow Earth is revealed!”

The picture lines up with the leaked Godzilla vs. Kong footage last year, which showed Kong about to land a blow on Godzilla atop an aircraft carrier. This also gives fans a perfect look at how Kong has grown since the events of Kong: Skull Island. If the picture is anything to go by, Godzilla vs. Kong is brimming with action and destruction, something director Adam Wingard has hyped.

The new synopsis also highlights a big storyline with the Hollow Earth as a focal point of the movie. First introduced in Kong: Skull Island, this theory suggests that within the Earth are countless tunnels filled with all sorts of ancient titans. Judging by this synopsis, the Hollow Earth is more reality than theory, and Godzilla vs. Kong is about unveil a whole bunch of new monsters hiding just below the Earth’s surface.

Godzilla vs. Kong marks the first time the characters are meeting since 1962, and their upcoming rematch looks to be a grand experience. With a massive monster fight above ground and a secret realm to explore below, it’s hard not to be excited for what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of 2021. Not to mention, it will be good to get an answer to how Godzilla and Kong can stand on an aircraft carrier without it collapsing instantly.
