A hilarious The Legend of Korra fan edit makes Aang’s son Tenzin swear at everyone. Following the end of Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2008, it took a few years for fans to get a chance to return to the world. M. Night Shyamalan made a live-action movie not too long after, but it was The Legend of Korra that delivered more bending content in the quality fans expected. The series followed Aang’s successor as the Avatar, named Korra, 70 years after the events of The Last Airbender.

Korra might be the star of The Legend of Korra, but the show introduced a wide variety of new characters, in addition to bringing back some familiar ones. Elderly versions of Aang, Katara, Toph, and Zuko returned, but their legacies also were important. The show allowed for Aang and Katara’s children to appear as adults, and their oldest, Tenzin, played a big role. The Air Nomad trained Korra to be an airbender and brought a calming presence to her life, but that has changed in a fan-made video.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In The Legend of Korra, Tenzin is voiced by actor J.K. Simmons, the prolific and Oscar-winning actor. The show uses Simmons’ commanding voice to make Tenzin sound even wiser than he already is, but an edit by FelixCadalin on Twitter completely reverses his demeanor. By using moments and quotes from Simmons’ other work, the NSFW video below has Tenzin swear at Korra and other characters from the show.

The new dialogue for Tenzin is pulled from Simmons’ Oscar-winning performance in Whiplash. The 2014 film put Simmons in another mentor/teacher role, but the personality could not be any more different from Tenzin. Whiplash saw Simmons play an angry music instructor named Fletcher, who berated the film’s lead young drummer Andrew (Miles Teller) and many others with verbal insults. By using some of his outbursts, it is quite funny to hear the Whiplash quotes come out of Tenzin, and some of them work quite well with the scenes chosen.

Tenzin might not be as widely known as his father but that could change now that The Legend of Korra is streaming on Netflix. Avatar: The Last Airbender saw a resurgence in popularity once it became available on the service, so there is a decent chance that a larger audience discovers The Legend of Korra now. For those who have yet to see the series but watch the aforementioned video, the contrast between Tenzin’s actual personality and the one in this video will be even more startling.
