Home Team recently released on Netflix, sharing the real story of head coach in the NFL, Sean Payton. In the film, Payton (Kevin James) is suspended from coaching due to a scandal that plagued his team. To pass the time, he went home to Texas to spend time with his young son who also played football.

Since his son’s team was one of the worst in the leagues, Payton stepped up and became one of the coaches. Home Team is a family-friendly comedy produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Maddison Production and has a warm message. But with so many famous faces sprinkled throughout the movie, viewers are putting together where they’ve seen the actors before.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Kevin James (Sean Payton)

James plays the NFL coach, Sean Payton. Three years after winning the Super Bowl, Payton is suspended and sent home to Texas to spend time with his family, who doesn’t know much about him. In an effort to bond with his son, Connor, Payton starts coaching Connor’s team and learns a lot about being a dad and his career while doing so.

Kevin James is legendary and has been in other movies similar to Home Team. He’s starred in Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Here Comes the BoomGrown Ups, and plenty of other movies produced by his friend, Sandler. James is perhaps best known for playing Doug Heffernan in sitcom The King of Queens.

Taylor Lautner (Troy Lambert)

Taylor Lautner plays Troy Lambert, the Warriors’ head coach before Payton arrived. Troy was a good guy who cared for his athletes but he wasn’t the best at his job. When Payton came into town, Troy asked him for help and the rest was history. Due to how much he cared for the kids, Troy was one of the more likable characters in Home Team.

Lautner is most known for his time in the Twilight saga, but he also appeared in Valentine’s Day and Abduction. As of late, Lautner focused on television and was a part of Scream Queens and Cuckoo before filming Home Team.

Jackie Sandler (Beth)

Jackie Sandler plays Beth — Sean’s ex-wife and Connor’s mom. Without Sean around, Beth was a single mother who went on to remarry her husband, Jamie. In the movie, Beth is one of the more loving parent figures and encourages a relationship between Sean and their son.

Fans of Happy Madison productions know that Jackie Sandler is Adam Sandler’s wife. She’s had small and big roles in multiple of her husband’s movies. What some fans don’t know is that Adam Sandler’s production company tends to have the same faces sprinkled throughout. Jackie Sandler has been in Hubie Halloween, Hotel Transylvania, and the TV series Kevin Can Wait, to name a few.

Rob Schneider (Jamie)

Rob Schneider plays Beth’s new husband, Jamie. Jamie was the complete opposite of Sean. He didn’t necessarily understand football and was more into meditation and salt lamps. However, he was a great stepdad to Connor and a funny character.

Schneider has an extensive filmography and has made a name for himself in comedy. From The Hot Chick to Deuce Bigalow to The Animal, Schneider has done it all. More recently, fans can catch him in Daddy Daughter Trip and as the voice of Jose in Pups Alone.

Tait Blum (Connor)

Home Team isn’t one of the best football movies ever made but it does show the sweet bond between Connor and his dad is. Tait Blum plays Connor Payton. Because of his dad’s busy career, Connor rarely saw his dad and didn’t know much about him. He was bothered by his dad’s sudden reappearance after he was suspended and it took time to warm up to him.

Outside of Home Team, Blum is a young actor who got his big break in 2018’s Shooter. From there, he starred in Cousins for Life, For All Mankind, and was recently in Wish Upon a Unicorn.

Gary Valentine (Mich Bizone)

Gary Valentine portrayed Mitch Bizone. Bizone was the Warriors’ assistant coach, but he wasn’t all that helpful. Bizone was often the laughingstock of the team and was known for riding his bike everywhere.

In real life, Valentine is Kevin James’s brother and has been in many of the same projects as him. Valentine has also been in Kevin Can Wait (alongside Jackie Sandler) and The Dog Who Saved Summer.

Jacob Perez (Marcos)

Jacob Perez plays Marcos, Connor’s teammate. Marcos was one of the best players on the team but had an overbearing dad who drove Coach Payton crazy. All in all, Marcos was a great teammate, athlete, and friend.

Outside of Home Team, Perez is most known for playing Miguel in The Marksman. According to his IMDb, Perez has a movie in post-production set to release this year, The Son Rises.

Bryant Tardy (Dennis)

Bryant Tardy plays Dennis, another teammate and friend of Connor’s. Dennis was a great athlete and admired Coach Payton. He enjoyed learning more from him but his mother’s crush on Payton got in the way. One of the funnier moments in the movie was when Dennis’s mom invited Payton over for dinner and Dennis helped him leave to escape his mother’s dating tricks.

Tardy had a brilliant performance and is on his way to becoming a great child actor. He’s been acting since 2014 and has been a part of Logan, Tell Me Your Secrets, Secrets of Sulphur Springs, and has a movie in post-production called They Whisper.

Manny Magnus (Harlan)

Manny Magnus plays another one of Connor’s teammates, Harlan. As one of the smallest players on the field, Harlan was a kicker who became nervous whenever he had to kick the football because of who was watching. He had a crush in the stands who came to games and it was hard for him to concentrate. His crush and his team’s willingness to help him was an endearing part of the movie.

Magnus is relatively new to the acting world after starring in Raising Dion in 2019. He also played Seymour in 2022’s I Want You Back.

Lavell Crawford (Gus)

Lavell Crawford didn’t have the biggest role in Home Team, considering he played the team’s bus driver, Gus, but he added funny tidbits sprinkled throughout.
