Vans has just announced their brand new Vans x Horror collection, which will feature shoes inspired by The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Stephen King’s It. Vans is well-known by sneaker fans around the world for collaborations with other brands. In the past Vans has collaborated with everything from Nintendo, Star Wars, and The Simpsons to the White Castle restaurant chain, The Beatles, and Public Enemy.

While many Halloween films have waxed and waned in popularity over the years, others have withstood the test of time and become horror classics. The Shining, which was seen as a disappointment by many upon its release, has become a cult classic and has since spawned a sequel, 2019’s Doctor Sleep. Similarly, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th are widely considered two of the most quintessential horror movies of all time and, despite being released in the 1980s, remain popular today. It, as well, has clearly resonated with modern audiences with both the 2017 film and It Chapter 2 being massive financial successes.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Horror fans are in for a treat with the latest announcement from the Vans Twitter account (via BloodyDisgusting) revealing the upcoming Vans x Horror collection due out this October. The short video shows off four pairs of distinctly decorated “Horror Vans” with pairs inspired by The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and It. Not only is there a pair of shoes for each film, but it also appears that there will be several different shoe styles available in the collection. Check out Vans’ original tweet below:

The Shining-inspired shoes, which are a Vans hi-top style, are yellow and black and take after one of the original poster designs for the film that features a distinct blocky font for the title. The pair also features “REDRUM” written along the midsole in Danny’s writing from the film. The Nightmare on Elm Street shoes are also in Vans’ hi-top style and feature a red and dark grey striping effect similar to that of Freddy Krueger’s iconic sweater and a few splashes of fake blood for good measure. Both the It shoes and the Friday the 13th shoes are also suitably creepy and eye-catching with the former featuring bright red balloons over a checkerboard and the latter featuring Jason Voorhees’ terrifying hockey mask.

Limited edition shoe collector or not, these Vans will likely prove popular with horror fans everywhere. Even more casual horror fans are sure to recognize some of the iconic imagery on the shoes and may be interested in picking up a pair. Information on the collection is limited at this point, but hopefully, prospective buyers will be able to mix and match the shoe styles and the movie inspirations. If past Vans collaborations are anything to go by, the upcoming Vans x Horror collection is sure to be a big hit with both sneaker fans and horror fans alike.
