The arrival of Baldur’s Gate 3 early access has fans of the previous games and new players alike excited. The long-awaited third installation to the beloved Baldur’s Gate series has come just as the popularity for such roleplaying games, as well as Dungeons & Dragons, surge to new heights. The developers of Balder’s Gate 3 even gave fans an extra-special treat that most early access games wait to add until much later down the road. Players can already set up a multiplayer game so they can experience the wonders of Faerun with their friends. This feature has only increased the desirability for the game, even though it is still limited in gameplay.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

To set up a multiplayer game when creating a new save file on Baldur’s Gate 3, a player must select the Multiplayer option from the main menu. From here, simply hit ‘create’ and this will bring the player to a screen that allows them to select who can join theirr party. Toggle the ‘Who can join your game’ option and select to allow friends only. This will make sure that only people invited are able to join the new game. After inviting friends from the player’s Steam friend list, the game can be launched and will bring all players involved to the character creation page.

If a player decides to leave their Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer session, their character will be assigned to another player that is still signed in to the game. This character can be reassigned to another person at any time by the host of the game. The host of the game will be the only one able to save the progress of the party. The host is also in charge of restarting Baldur’s Gate 3 sessions at a later time, as the data for that adventure will be saved on the host’s computer. To resume the same save with the same players, the host loads the game and selects ‘escape’ and then opens the session menu. From here, the settings can be accessed and players can be invited to join and reassigned to their personal characters.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Multiplayer: What You Can Do In The Game

Once the game is set up and all the players have joined, there is a surprising amount of freedom to enjoy in Baldur’s Gate 3‘s multiplayer, even in early access. There are no limitations on what the party can do separately or together in an area. Players can stay together as they explore a new part of the map or town, or they can split out and do exploration and fighting by themselves. This gives autonomy to Baldur’s Gate 3’s party members and doesn’t limit everyone to what the host of the game wants to do. By allowing players to have the freedom to explore and make choices, the story is enriched as a multiplayer experience for everyone, giving more development to all characters and avoiding situations where one person is the key focus for the entire campaign.

While the game has plenty of early access bugs, and the multiplayer servers can be bogged down by the excitement of players trying to connect and enjoy the new experiences the game has to offer, it is already clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 is on track to be a popular and memorable game. By adding a much sought-after feature for RPG games so soon into the early access people, Baldur’s Gate 3s multiplayer allows fans to create memories and play together with friends, allowing a party to share together in the growth the game will undergo. It won’t be long until there is more content for parties to come together and explore.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access is available now on PC and Google Stadia.
