Season 3 of Netflix’s Elite brought the stories of its original cast members to an end; however, the characters could still appear in later seasons. Much of Elite season 3 focused on the events leading up to Polo’s (Álvaro Rico) murder, with the finale unveiling who was responsible and whether or not they would get away with it. Unlike the first two seasons, Elite season 3 didn’t end with a cliffhanger, but instead allowed all of its characters to reach peaceful, if not always entirely happy, conclusions.

The entirety of Elite so far has centered on the same group of Las Encinas students. The show has already been renewed for seasons 4 and 5, but reportedly these will focus on a new cast of characters. This seems to be supported by how neatly season 3 came to an end, with characters either jetting off to a new location or returning for one final year at Las Encinas. However, there are still opportunities to bring the characters back for another scandal-ridden ride.

The final episode of Elite season 3 saw the core group of characters split up. Lu (Danna Paola) and Nadia (Mina El Hammani) flew off to New York for college, while Carla (Ester Expósito) also left for school, though to an undefined location. Valerio (Jorge López) took on a new job at Carla’s family’s wineries, and Cayetana (Georgina Amorós) became Las Encinas’ new janitor. And finally, Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau), Ander (Arón Piper), Omar (Omar Ayuso) and Rebeca (Claudia Salas) have all started a new year at Las Encinas. With that in mind, all of these characters could still return in Elite season 4.

The Las Encinas Crew

The easiest group to bring back is also the most likely group to return, and that is those who are still at Las Encinas. Assuming season 4 of Elite will still take place at Las Encinas, more than half of the original cast could easily appear. Thanks to various extenuating circumstances, Samuel, Guzmán, Ander, and Rebeca were unable to finish their final year at Las Encinas, thus forcing them all to return for another few semesters. Omar, who has never been a Las Encinas student, has arrived at the prestigious school for the first time, and Cayetana may no longer be a student there, but she’s still around. Even if the main story of Elite season 4 focuses on another group of students, it wouldn’t make much sense to not include Elite‘s original characters in some form, even if they’re just background characters laughing at the latest issues to plague the school.

To take things a step further, Elite‘s original characters could even get involved in the new drama. They’ve already proven they are magnets for trouble, and it’d be easy to throw them into the center of a new season-long mystery. Another murder could feel repetitive, but a new threat could emerge in the vein of the “who is A” plot in Pretty Little Liars. As everyone on Elite helped cover up what happened to Polo, someone could be displeased that they’ve all gotten off scot-free. The past could come back to haunt those at Las Encinas, with some of the biggest targets being Cayetana, for hiding evidence convicting Polo of Marina’s (María Pedraza) murder, and Rebeca, for her mother being a drug dealer. It might seem a little out there, but it could be a way to keep the original characters around.

For a less dark alternative, season 4 of Elite could just focus on the characters’ recoveries from the insane events of what came before. Omar and Ander in particular have been through a lot, and season 4 could provide an excellent opportunity to let their relationship grow without any unnecessary drama. Samuel and Guzmán could properly mourn and move on from Marina’s death now that things with Polo have been resolved, and they could both reconnect with Carla and Nadia respectively. This might not provide enough drama to fuel an entire season, but they could serve as excellent background stories.

Lu and Nadia

One of the unexpected delights of the newest season of Elite was the relationship between Lu and Nadia. For much of the first two seasons of the show, they were enemies, with Lu seeing Nadia as a threat both at school and for Guzmán’s affections. That finally changed in season 3. Lu and Nadia gradually began to support each other as they competed for the same scholarship. In the end, they both won, and their friendship will continue in New York City. Fans now want to see their adventures in the new city, with some even calling for a spin-off.

However, a spin-off would take them away from Elite, which isn’t the goal here. Seeing as Nadia’s family is still in Spain, she could always travel home for school breaks to see them. Plus, Nadia promised Guzmán she could return to him at some point, and fans are eagerly praying they will see that reunion happen onscreen. Lu would presumably travel with her, since Nadia’s mother openly welcomed Lu into their family in the season finale. It would actually be a joy to see Lu slowly integrating herself into the Shanaa family, which could also provide an excellent new story possibility for her.

Additionally, if anything were to happen to Omar and Guzmán, Nadia and Lu would surely return to their sides in an instant. Nadia and Omar have gotten closer as siblings as the seasons have gone on, and Nadia would be quick to support her brother. Also, Lu and Nadia’s shared love of Guzmán would definitely bring the two back if he was in any kind of danger.

Carla and Valerio

The two characters who would be a bit trickier to bring back to the Spanish television series are Carla and Valerio. Looking at Carla first, it isn’t clear where she went at the end of season 3, only that she’s no longer home. After the past few years she had, Carla looked to be in search of some peace now that she had finally regained control of her life. She might not even want to return home, considering the relationship she has with her parents. However, if there is one thing that might bring Carla back, it’s Samuel. Before Polo’s death, Carla seemed ready to embark on something real with Samuel, and it was only her leaving that put an end to it. Having found her peace off at school, Carla could return to get some proper closure with Samuel.

With Valerio, he’s the only original cast member to move on to something that doesn’t involve education. As Carla put him in charge of the family’s wineries while she was away, Valerio looks to have his hands full. Carla’s father was less than pleased to have him on though, so he could find a way to oust Valerio, thus forcing Valerio to find a new place in life. This could present a new story for him, and one that might lead him to seek out guidance from friends like Rebeca. Plus, Valerio seemed to be on better terms with his half-sister Lu by the end of the third season, so if things were to go wrong for him, he could easily turn to her. Of course, knowing them, that could lead to more issues, but that would just be another source of conflict for the writers to exploit.

If season 4 of Elite chooses to leave all the main characters behind, at least their stories came to neat ends. However, fans have made it clear they’re not done with Samuel, Ander, Lu, and the others. If the writers really wanted to keep them around, there are plenty of ways to do so. It’s not clear when Elite season 4 will arrive, but hopefully it will feature more adventures for the characters we already know and love.
