Sage is the fourth job in the Healer role added in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. The role supports the party through healing, debuffing enemies, and dealing damage. The last Healer added to the game was the Astrologian in Heavensward. Since then, two expansions were released, with the DPS role receiving three new jobs and the Tank role acquiring one addition. Like all jobs or classes in the game, FFXIV‘s Sage has its pros and cons, but adventurers appear to be enjoying the new mechanics from various discussions online. Alternative options include the Astrologian, Scholar, and White Mage. Players have been waiting for a new Healer, and Sage offers a fun, new gameplay experience compared to its predecessors.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In FFXIV, healing is performed by manipulating the aether in the world. Healers, DPS, and Tanks working in unison allow duties or other activities can be completed. Adventurers can only take so much damage before they crumble under the onslaught of enemies found in dungeons and raids. Healing in FFXIV is rewarding because the role obtains many benefits for helping other players. Reviving a party member in combat to win the battle feels fantastic. Healers are required for duties and often receive commendations over other roles too. All four healing jobs in FFXIV have their own strengths in each activity.

At first, Sages appear more complex than the other three healers in the game but are easy enough to pick up after gaining experience in the role. They can cast the skill Kardia to affix a party member with Kardion. Casting a damaging attack heals both the caster and those with the Kardion buff. The job is also able to temporarily increase their own healing capabilities and generate powerful shields. Sages in FFXIV specialize in health regeneration and damage mitigation in their rotation. There are a lot of little intricacies to using the abilities in a rotation at the right time, creating a nice challenge while playing the job. The newest addition to the role is fun and incredibly unique compared to the other three options for Healers in the game. The Sage job in FFXIV is unlocked in Limsa Lominsa lower deck after obtaining a Disciple of War or Magic of level 80.

FFXIV: Endwalker’s Sage Compared To Other Healer Jobs

White Mage was originally the only option for healing in the base game of FFXIV. The job focuses on burst single target and AOE skills to restore HP. White Mages can also deal an impressive amount of damage. Scholar was added upon release of A Realm Reborn and focuses on damage mitigation with shields. They also supply healing to the party in the form of their fairy companion. The fairy can be given commands or will perform actions on its own. In FFXIV, Astrologian is the only Healer unlocked outside of the three original city-states and is located in Ishgard. They can shield in a lesser capacity compared to the Scholar, apply buffs, and also sustain the party with health regeneration.

After two expansions, Endwalker included a much-anticipated addition to the Healer role. The other three healing jobs were updated as well to make each one more unique too. The expansion officially launched on December 7, 2021, giving players more time to decide whether or not Sage will take the top spot as their favorite Healer to play. During the Endwalker story, Alphinaud is changing to the new job, allowing adventurers to see the abilities without taking on the healing role. Sage is one of the new jobs introduced in the new FFXIV expansion and more exciting classes are sure to be introduced in the future of Final Fantasy XIV.
