Actor Angus Cloud explains how he believes Fezco would’ve reacted to Lexi’s play in the Euphoria season 2 finale had he been able to attend. Fezco, as played by Cloud, is the “drug dealer with a heart of gold” in the hit show on HBO, who entered into a friendship/burgeoning romance with Lexi, as played by Maude Apatow throughout the show’s second season. Lexi had been preparing a play to put on at East Highland High School and had sought out Fez’s advice and counsel as she approached it with some trepidation, to which he showed his full support.

The romantic build-up continued between Fez and Lexi, as they exchanged texts, phone calls, and met up at Fez’s house, even taking the time to watch Stand By Me together at one point. Fez had planned to go to the play to show his support, even getting dressed up and buying flowers, but things went awry when Custer (played by Tyler Chase) betrays Fez, setting up a SWAT raid just as he’s trying to leave to get to the play. What ensues is a police raid that ends with Fez shot and wounded, Custer stabbed to death, and Ashtray, Fez’s adoptive brother, killed in a police shoot-out.

Naturally, those events precluded Fezco from going to Lexi’s play, but talking to THR, Cloud gave some perspective on how he thinks Fezco would’ve reacted to Lexi’s play if he had seen it. During the second act of the play, with Lexi looking to the crowd and seeing the empty chair where Fezco would’ve been, she dedicates the play to him, even though she has no inkling as to what’s really going down with him at that moment. Cloud believes, however, that Fez simply “hoped to have a classy player night” with Lexi and congratulate her on her accomplishments, being the “nice and sweet” character he is often known for. Here’s his full quote:

I’m sure it would have meant a lot to him. I don’t think he’s really at that time in his life for those type of romantic relationships, so it’s all pretty new to him. I think he just hoped to have a classy player night. And congratulate Lexi on her accomplishments, give her flowers and hand her a note. And be nice and sweet.

Ironically, Fezco was initially supposed to be killed off in the first season of Euphoria, but creator Sam Levinson had a change of heart after seeing Cloud’s performance and expanded his role throughout Euphoria season 2 and, likely, will continue in Euphoria season 3. Cloud is a relatively unknown actor, who was cast for the part of Fezco while he was working at a restaurant in Brooklyn. Since that time, the actor has become a household name and is expanding his credits with the upcoming films Your Lucky Day and The Line, both currently in production.

Fezco’s journey in Euphoria season 2 is one of the more interesting and complex ones, as his drug-dealing world continued to get more and more dangerous, all the while a new romance was building up with Lexi. His confrontations with Nate (and later with Cal) were also a source of major strife, and the events that unfolded as a result made for some great drama. Although Fezco was wounded in the SWAT raid in the Euphoria season 2 finale, it’s highly unlikely he succumbed to his wounds and fans will no doubt be chomping at the bit to see what happens next for #Fexi, the hashtag born of the romance between Fez and Lexi.
