With rumors that Grand Theft Auto 6 will return to a familiar city, there’s a chance Rockstar Games could choose to zero in on Las Venturas and improve upon some of the areas that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas lacked. It remains unconfirmed where Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place. In fact, it remains unclear when GTA 6 will even release, since Rockstar hasn’t officially announced the game’s existence.

Still, there has been much speculation and alleged leaks that a new GTA game would be set in Vice City alongside several missions set in a Rio de Janeiro stand-in city. Likewise, there’s also talk that GTA 6 could be set in the ‘70s and ‘80s. At this point, however, it remains anyone’s best guess where (or when) the game will be set.

Grand Theft Auto 6 could very well be set in Las Venturas, GTA’s fake Las Vegas which was featured in GTA: San Andreas. While there was much hope the fictional city would be featured in 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V, considering the game was set in San Andreas once again, in the end, Las Venturas failed to make an appearance. But with some improvement, Las Venturas could very well be featured in a GTA sequel.

How GTA’s Las Venturas Could Be Fixed

The main issue with Las Venturas was it was way too small. In comparison to the other cities featured in GTA: San Andreas, coupled by the fact that Las Vegas is quite large in real life, it felt as though less attention was paid to this location. Its small size meant there was little to do when the player eventually unlocks the city (besides lots more gambling, of course) leaving players unsatisfied and bored. But incorporating the fictional Las Vegas into GTA 6 would be a chance for Rockstar to expand the city. They could offer the player more options to go inside buildings, give them more objects to interact with, and create interesting, Las Vegas-themed side missions.

The bright neon lights of Las Venturas’ strip would look amazing in next-gen graphics, and Rockstar could utilize everything they learned during the development of Grand Theft Auto’s heist missions as well as the Diamond Casino and Resort in GTA Online in order to provide a more engaging and interactive gameplay experience. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and that implies that a lot goes does in the party city, so Rockstar should give players a lot to work both in terms of the game’s map and its content.

Assuming Las Venturas would not be the only city featured in GTA 6, it would still be important to have a considerable chunk of the single-player story take place in the city – something GTA: San Andreas could have improved upon. It would be especially impressive if GTA 6 had a major mission take place in Las Venturas, namely an Oceans 11-inspired casino heist. San Andreas’s casino heist was one of the most fun missions in the entire Grand Theft Auto series, and it could look even better on consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5. Luckily, GTA 6has the opportunity to improve on what GTA: San Andreas got wrong with Los Venturas… if the developers choose to.
