Ahead of the March 17 State of Play presentation, Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software has revealed a snippet of footage from the game’s portrayal of House Gryffindor, including the iconic Hogwarts bedrooms featured in the Harry Potter movie series. Although at first glance, they look relatively similar to the design that Harry Potter fans might know and love, there are a few differences worth noting. Additionally, it raises questions of what the other House’s bedrooms might look like or how they could change throughout Hogwarts Legacy‘s storyline.

First announced in the Fall of 2020 at a PS5 Showcase, Hogwarts Legacy‘s surprise reveal showed an open world and validated long-time rumors regarding the existence of a Harry Potter RPG. At the time of its announcement, the game was set to come out in 2021, though by January of that year, it had already been pushed back to 2022. As of early 2022, the game is still reportedly on-track for a release at some point this year, though any concrete date has yet to be provided. Many Harry Potter fans are hoping that the PlayStation State of Play this March, which will focus exclusively on Hogwarts Legacy, will bring with it not only a final release date but also a long-anticipated look at the in-game design of Hogwarts Castle and the rest of the wizarding world.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, meaning that Hogwarts likely won’t look the same as it does in the Harry Potter movies. It’s entirely possible that familiar rules for Hogwarts students will not yet be put in place during the events of Hogwarts Legacy, and many well-known characters from the novels won’t even be alive during the game’s events. The school grounds, as well as the classes taught there, may be completely unfamiliar to even the most dedicated Harry Potter fans. That said, prospective players are still waiting on additional new Hogwarts Legacy trailers and footage to reveal just how different things could turn out. Avalanche Software’s announcement Tweet for the upcoming State of Play presentation indicates that the wait is almost up.

What Gryffindor’s Bedrooms Look Like In Hogwarts Legacy

The brief clip included in the Tweet showcases what appears to be a standard Gryffindor dormitory, including four-poster beds and a central stove for heating, details that are also prominently featured in the Harry Potter films and novels. According to the descriptions provided in these sources, each room can house five students, though this doesn’t always seem to be the case. Only four wizards share a dorm at some points in the source materials. Although the glimpse provided of the player bedroom doesn’t tell much about Hogwarts Legacy‘s gameplay, it does appear to confirm the number of occupants to a room, as the beds appear to be positioned to allow only four in a room comfortably.

That said, the dormitory is also significantly more spacious than the one featured in the Harry Potter movies, with plenty of space for additional furniture, books, and other belongings. Players might be able to collect certain gameplay items or rewards that can be physically featured in the dormitory. More minor details like the curtains and bed covers also appear to have been changed from the counterparts seen in the films, though this may be because players could be allowed to alter the appearance of their Hogwarts Legacy character and dormitory as the game progresses. Perhaps details regarding that possibility will be addressed during the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play. Larger design aspects, like the placement of the windows and the stone walls, remain more consistent.

until March 17 rolls around, Harry Potter fans will have to wait to learn how the rest of Hogwarts could have changed throughout the years. For the time being, only the Gryffindor House bedrooms have been revealed. Given the lack of footage featuring the other House dormitories, there’s plenty of room to speculate what those additional rooms might look like. The Hogwarts Legacy State of Play will probably explore these other Houses in at least some small capacity.
