Now that Simone Hicks’ story has moved to college, here’s how long after All American her All American: Homecoming spinoff takes place. The CW set up the first All American spinoff during season 3, as an episode showed Simone and other characters visit Bringston University, where she fell in love with the HBCU. This put the wheels in motion for All American: Homecoming and a brand new setting with a mostly new cast of characters.

Since Simone’s show is an All American spinoff, the series is undoubtedly connected to the main show based on Spencer Paysinger’s pre-NFL career. The first episode of All American: Homecoming even includes Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) as part of Simone’s move to Bringston. However, the show also began airing at the same time that All American season 4 entered the back half of its story. While The CW has previously shown that the Arrowverse shows take place at roughly the same time, it seems All American: Homecoming is set a bit more in the future of the All American timeline.

There isn’t a specific date referenced as to when All American: Homecoming takes place, but many smaller details indicate that the show doesn’t take place at the same time as All American season 4. The main show is set in the spring of Spencer, Jordan, and even Simone’s senior years of high school. All American season 4 has previously shown Simone leaving Beverly more frequently for college tennis activities, but the matches she’s participating in aren’t from a time when she actually attends Bringston. Since All American: Homecoming begins with Simone moving into college and trying to make her way onto the tennis team officially, it appears Simone’s spinoff takes place in the fall after graduating high school, which is at least several months after the events of All American season 4.

There are many different clues included in All American: Homecoming that point to it taking place several months after All American season 4. All American: Homecoming episode 1 mentions that Simone’s life has changed a lot over the last year when she found out she was pregnant, which happened in All American season 2. That took place during the prior spring semester of high school when Simone was a junior. There is also a reference to Christmas break coming up and Simone not being active in a group text for a few months. All American: Homecoming also reiterates that the baseball team is preparing for fall ball after missing out on spring play.

The most glaring clue that All American: Homecoming takes place months after All American season 4, though, is at the beginning of episode 1. A quick shot of Simone, Jordan, and Olivia Baker at high school graduation is shown as happening in the past. Since All American season 4 only just showed graduation, it is quite clear that All American: Homecoming takes place much later. Simone’s spinoff show most likely will take place at the same time as All American season 5 at the end of the day, which is an intriguing decision but one that had to be made to tell her story.
