It’s been over a week since Genshin Impact released worldwide and became a global hit. Now, as players work their way through the main story, many people are wondering when their adventures in the world of Treyvat will come to an end. It’s an understandable question, since the open-world elements of Genshin Impact make it seem like the game is endless. And while there’s certainly a lot of content, the main story does currently have an ending, although it may not be the kind players expect.

With two dozen playable characters, countless weapons, and a massive world to explore, there’s a lot to do in Genshin Impact. Because of this, playing times will vary when it comes to how long it takes people to beat the game. Based on playstyles and other factors, there are some good estimates as to how long players can expect it to take them to reach the final quest in Genshin Impact’s main story.

First, there’s something to understand about Genshin Impact: the end of the current game isn’t really the end. New content, including story, will be added by developer miHoYo periodically. Currently, there are two zones to fully explore in Genshin Impact, making up two separate chapters. Genshin Impact will have a total of seven zones, according to miHoYo, which means players can expect at least five massive updates in the future. However, in its present state, Genshin Impact has a last quest for the main story, which some people might consider as beating the game.

How Long It Takes To Get To Genshin Impact’s Ending

Currently, the final story quest in Genshin Impact is unlocked at Adventurer Rank 29, although there are side quests and other content that go to at least Adventurer Rank 36. There are various ways for players to increase their Adventurer Rank, but all of them will take some time. This is where it can get a little tricky when discussing playtimes. Because an Adventurer Rank goes up based on exploration-related factors, it’s impossible for a player to simply go through the main story quests and rush to the end.

Players who’ve put their nose to the grindstone and tried to focus solely on the main story could reasonably expect to beat the game in 30 or so hours. But if players spend a lot of time excessively exploring the open world or rolling for better characters, it’s going to take much longer. Some of it will come down to luck as well, since players will need rare items for Ascending characters’ levels and weapon Ascension. Players who take their time and want to explore ever nook and cranny of Treyvat can realistically play for upwards of 100 hours, if they really want to.

For fans of Genshin Impact, the best part of all of this is that more story content is coming. Presumably, more characters and weapons will come in later patches as well. Although the game currently has what some people may consider an end point about 30 hours in, the story is far from over.
