To celebrate the NFL Kickoff for the 2021-22 Season, Madden NFL 22 will be free-to-play for PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia, and PC users this weekend. The most recent entry in the long-running American football franchise was only released on August 20, so this is an early chance to try out the game for the fans who haven’t purchased it yet. However, users will only get to try out Madden NFL 22 for free for a limited time.

This isn’t the first time the game has been available for a trial period, as a 10-hour early access trial for Madden 22 was available before the game’s full launch. In order to access the latest free trial, though, football fans will need to go to their available platform of choice and download Madden NFL 22. They’ll also have to accept EA Sports’ terms of service before being allowed to dive into a season or start experimenting with game modes.

Thankfully, the free version of Madden NFL 22 is completely unrestircited, meaning free-to-play users will still have access to features like Franchise mode and Ultimate Teams. They’ll also be able to participate in the current NCAA Campus Legends event and try out Superstar KO mode. There are no online restrictions either, which means players can take on their friends and family in multiplayer while the game is free, too. And because the gameplay is unlimited during the trial, people can play as much as they want while the free-to-play period is active.

Madden NFL 22 Is Only Free For A Limited Time

According to the EA Sports official site, Madden NFL 22 will be free-to-play starting on Thursday, September 9, 2021. This is meant to coincide with both Ultimate Kickoff in the game and the start of the NFL’s 21-22 Season, which kicks off with the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the game will only be free through Sunday, September 12. The announcement tweet can be viewed below:

It’s a smart marketing plan for EA Sports, since trying out the game for free may entice more people to buy it once the weekend is over. For now, this is the only announced time Madden NFL 22 will be free. However, games often host free weekends around special events and times, so it’s possible that another free-to-play weekend will occur in the future. In the meantime, this weekend is a great time for those who haven’t purchased the game yet to try it out without dipping into their own wallets.
