How Many Genshin Impact Players Are There

Since launching in September of last year, Genshin Impact has become one of the most successful mobile games of all time. The free-to-play RPG from miHoYo is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and mobile devices. As it continues to shatter records, it seems like an incredible number of people are playing the game. But just how many players does Genshin Impact actually have?

There are a lot of reasons for people to love Genshin Impact. With its open world and seemingly endless supply of new playable characters, there’s always something to do in the game. With Version 1.3 arriving this week, even more new players will likely flock to the RPG to see what all the fuss is about. And because Genshin Impact is readily available on so many platforms, it means the game is easily accessible – and can therefore have an even greater number of potential players.

Prior to its release, Genshin Impact had over 20 million people pre-registered for the game. In its first week, the game was downloaded 17 million times and had made $60 million on mobile devices alone. So far, miHoYo hasn’t officially released its player numbers for 2021, but they’ve definitely increased since 2020 – when mobile players hit 21.3 million. While that’s an impressive number, it doesn’t include the amount of players across all platforms – so the player count is actually a lot higher.

How Many People Play Genshin Impact On All Platforms

Genshin Impact isn’t just successful on mobile, either. To date, Genshin Impact has gotten almost 6 million estimated players on PlayStation, according to Gamstat. These estimations are based on trophies earned and public data, so it’s not an exact number. Coupled with the mobile data from 2020, that means there are around 27.3 million players – and that’s not even including PC yet.

At launch, PC downloads for Genshin Impact were incredibly high, reaching around 12 million. That means the numbers of players for Genshin Impact are estimated to be 39.3 million across all platforms. Of course, this number is likely much larger now, since miHoYo still hasn’t released its numbers for 2021. As the game’s popularity continues to spread through word-of-mouth, streamers, and ads – it’s quite possible the number of players in the game are double what they were at launch.

Until miHoYo officially releases its number for Genshin Impact this year, there’s no way of knowing exactly how many people are playing the game in 2021. Based on PC and mobile downloads, as well as PSN data, there are around 40 million players in Genshin Impact at least. Although, that number has surely increased since the end of 2020.
