The range of the superheroes’ ages in Zack Snyder’s Justice League spans decades and even millennia. In 2021, Zack Snyder’s 4-hour-long definitive vision of Justice League arrived on HBO Max, which was the version of the film he wanted to tell before Warner Bros. replaced Snyder with Joss Whedon. The 2017 theatrical cut of Justice League was a critical and box office disappointment, which prompted the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement that finally allowed Snyder to complete his team-up movie.

Both versions of Justice League are set in 2017, the year after Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice takes place. Justice League centers on Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) gathering a team of heroes to defend the Earth from an invasion by Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) and the hordes of Apokolips. Steppenwolf seeks to unite the Mother Boxes hidden on Earth for thousands of years, and despite the best efforts of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), the Justice League is overwhelmed by the aliens. To even the odds, the heroes resurrect Superman (Henry Cavill) and the completed Justice League defeats Steppenwolf and saves the world.

Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe continuity actually begins thousands of years before Justice League since Darkseid first attempted to conquer Earth in the distant past. The DCEU is also the home of the Greek gods, the Amazons where Wonder Woman comes from, and the ancient civilization of Atlantis that Aquaman now rules as King. As such, Wonder Woman established Princess Diana of Themyscira’s origin story, although her solo film was set in 1918 during World War I. This makes Wonder Woman the oldest member of the Justice League by far as Diana was born in 3000, B.C. Therefore, the immortal Wonder Woman is approximately 5017 years old during Justice League‘s 2017 time frame in the DCEU.

Batman is the next oldest Justice League member after Wonder Woman, although the Caped Crusader is nowhere near as old as the Amazon. When Superman first encountered the Dark Knight in Batman V Superman, Bruce Wayne was weary after 20 years as a vigilante in Gotham City. Wayne was born in 1972, which makes Batman 45 years old during Justice League. Further, the Knightmare future of Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set in 2022 so Batman is 50 when he’s killed by the evil Superman in that alternate timeline. As for the Kryptonian-born hero, Clark Kent was 33 when he became Superman in Man of Steel, which was set in 2013. This means Superman is 37 in Justice League when he’s resurrected.

Aquaman established Arthur Curry was born in 1986 after his mother, Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) took refuge at a lighthouse in Maine and fell in love with Thomas Curry (Temura Morrison). Aquaman is 31 when Justice League happens in 2017. Curiously, the ARGUS file on Aquaman seen in the mid-credits scene of Suicide Squad lists Arthur Curry’s birth year as 1979, but Aquaman retconned this and is the canonical origin for the King of the Seas. Barry Allen was born in 1992, which makes the Flash 25 years old in 2017. Finally, Victor Stone, who was born in 1994, was still in college when he was critically injured and Victor’s father, Silas Stone (Joe Morton), rebuilt him using Apokolyptian technology from the Mother Box. Cyborg, at 23 years old, is the youngest superhero in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
