What height is actor Jason Alexander? After getting his start on stage in musical productions like Merrily We Roll Along, Jason Alexander made his movie debut in gory 1981 slasher The Burning, and for much of the decade split his time between stage and screen. Alongside stage productions like Neil Simon’s Broadway Bound, Alexander appeared on shows like short-lived medical comedy E/R – which bears no relations to the 1990s ER that made a star out of George Clooney – and had a lead role in sitcom Everything’s Relative.

Jason Alexander landed a star-making part in 1989 with Seinfeld, which became one of the defining sitcoms of its era. The show was co-created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, with the story revolving around a fictional version of the latter and his bizarre circle of friends, including Kramer, Elaine and George. Alexander played the latter who is deeply insecure, petty and selfish and jumps between many careers and relationships over the show’s nine seasons. David has since said George was largely based on his own persona, and while the cast has often ruled out a real Seinfeld reunion, they all returned for season 7 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which featured a fake revival of the series.

Jason Alexander had plenty of work while Seinfeld was on the air, making memorable appearances in hit romantic comedy Pretty Woman and cult horror Jacob’s Ladder, both of which arrived in 1990. Some other notable film roles during this period include Coneheads, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and he directed and starred in romantic comedy For Better or Worse in 1995. In 2000 he also did his best to save the deeply irritating live-action comedy The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle. Jason Alexander stands at 5′ 5″ and in one instance while playing an intense dramatic scene in Jacob’s Ladder with Tim Robbins – who is about 6′ 4″ – the director staged the scene on stairs to even out their heights.

Following the end of Seinfeld in 1998, Jason Alexander has rarely paused for breath. Alongside movies like Shallow Hal, he jumped between episodes of Friends, Son Of The Beach and Everybody Hates Chris. After appearing in a 2008 episode of procedural Criminal Minds, he later directed season four’s “Conflicted.”

While Jason Alexander does show up in the occasional movie like the 2015 Jason Statham thriller Wild Card, in the last decade he’s largely stuck with TV roles. He’s collected an impressive range of guests appearances on hit series, including Two And A Half Men and Young Sheldon. In 2017 he fronted and co-created the musical family sitcom Hit The Road, which only lasted one season, and most recently he’s loaned his voice to Sy Borg in animated series Harley Quinn and guest-starred on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
