How tall is action star Vin Diesel? The actor worked his way up from assorted gigs like an uncredited appearance in Awakenings and videos promoting Street Sharks toys and in 1995 he starred and directed the well-received short Multi-Facial about his experience going to auditions while coming from a multi-ethnic background. He later directed and starred in the tiny budget drama Strays, which also received good reviews. Steven Spielberg happened to see the movie and created the role of Caparzo in Saving Private Ryan for the young actor. The character is somewhat short-lived but it helped put Diesel on Hollywood’s radar.

He loaned his famous grumbly voice to the title character of Brad Bird’s classic animation The Iron Giant, co-starred in drama Boiler Room, and in 2000 Vin Diesel first appeared in one of his most famous roles in action/horror b-movie Pitch Black. This saw a spaceship stranded on a planet filled with vicious, man-eating creatures that only come out at night; too bad an eclipse is on the way. Diesel was perfectly cast as nihilist convict Riddick and he quickly followed with what could become another famed part, playing Dom in 2001’s The Fast And The Furious. This street racing flick co-starred Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez and became a surprise smash.

Surprisingly, Vin Diesel passed on 2 Fast 2 Furious, instead shifting to moody thriller A Man Part and xXx. The latter was pitched as the beginning of a new franchise for Diesel and was intended to be James Bond for the new millennium. The movie was a solid hit commercially but Diesel would – once again – pass on the second movie, which instead featured Ice Cube as new hero Darius Stone, though Vin eventually returned for the third movie in 2017. Diesel was eager to build a franchise out of Riddick, however, returning for 2004’s trinity of blockbuster sequel The Chronicles Of Riddick, anime short Dark Fury and video game Escape From Butcher Bay. The movie underwhelmed financially but the game received praise and is regarded as one of the best movie game tie-ins ever. According to CelebHeights, the star stands at 5ft 11 ½, though his exact height is disputed.

Vin Diesel’s career slowed somewhat in the aftermath, where he starred in the lukewarm comedy The Pacifier and would-be blockbuster Babylon A.D. After making a brief cameo in the third entry, the actor overcame his aversion to sequels for 2009’s Fast & Furious, the fourth entry that reunited the original cast. The series has since become a blockbuster juggernaut, with Diesel returning for every entry bar spinoff Hobbs & Shaw; the next entry F9 arrives in 2021.

Vin Diesel is also a video game fan and in 2009 he voiced both Wheelman and Riddick sequel Assault On Dark Athena. He returned to the latter character’s roots for 2013 follow-up Riddick, which found the convict stranded on another planet with nasty creatures. Outside of his familiar franchises, he’s voiced talking tree Groot in every instalment featuring the character since Guardians Of The Galaxy, in addition to starring in 2015’s fantasy adventure The Last Witch Hunter and Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. His most recent star vehicle was 2020’s comic adaptation Bloodshot, planning the unkillable assassin of the same name.
