Overly difficult video games have become common in the last few years, and indie adventure game Death’s Door definitely fits this tough category. Death’s Door pulls a lot of inspiration from the old-school Legend of Zelda games, but its combat is akin to the more brutal Dark Souls series of games. This means there are many challenges players will need to overcome to reach the endgame.

By far the biggest challenges players will face in Death’s Door are the bosses they will encounter. One of the most memorable boss fights in Death’s Door is against a giant frog who calls himself the King of the Swamp. This boss can be pretty tricky to get used to at first, and players will need to get comfortable dodging and only attacking at select moments. How to Beat King of the Swamp in Death’s Door

When it comes to beating the King of the Swamp in Death’s Door, it pays for players to be very observant of their surroundings and of their opponent. The King of the Swamp tends to telegraph his movements very obviously and shows off his weak points at the most inopportune moments. There are two phases to the fight, and players will need to employ different strategies for each phase.

Phase 1

During the first phase, the King of the Swamp will begin by standing on his giant mace and hopping around the battlefield. As he jumps around, the squares that he lands on will fall through and leave giant holes in the ground. These holes should be avoided if possible.

After doing this for a time, the King will end the attack by swinging his mace down to deal a large amount of damage and restore the blocks he destroyed while jumping. The player should try to get behind him when does this attack so they can then counterattack his exposed back. This will knock loose a part of his armor and knock him into the water.

The King of the Swamp will then try and attack from underneath, but players can avoid this by watching for shaking squares on the ground that indicate where he will hit. After that, the pattern will repeat until the player has completely destroyed his armor.

Phase 2

After losing his armor, the King of the Swamp will jump back on the platform and wait momentarily. This leaves him open to a few hits before he can come to his senses. He will then leap off the platform and start tilting it to try and push players off and break random blocks. To counter, players will need to sprint and dodge out of the way of breaking blocks until this attack is over.

The King of the Swamp will jump back on the platform, and players will need to attack him a few times. He then will leap to the top of the platform with his back to the player. At this point, players should shoot an arrow at his mace to restore any broken blocks.

For his final attack move, the King of the Swamp will start tossing grenades from above that will damage the player and destroy more blocks. To combat this, it is best for players to keep moving to avoid taking damage. The boss will eventually jump back down where the player can hit him. This will then start the pattern over again, and it will continue until players defeat the boss.
