Every gamer is guilty of spending way too much time at the character creation screen. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim blew the doors off sliders and customizable options. Customizing every different Argonian probably consumed 10% of the overall game-play time. Modern gamers certainly remember Cyberpunk’s character creation screen and how many ‘well-endowed’ avatars it spawned. While Nioh 2: Complete Edition isn’t as immersive as Cyberpunk 2077 (or buggy), it still allows players to build their Samurai however they deem fit.

Nioh 2: Complete Edition released February 5th for PlayStation 5 and PC. Players purchasing the game on Steam also gain access to the Valve Helmet, a special Steam exclusive. Otherwise, the Complete Edition comes with all three DLC expansion packs. The original game was released back in March of 2020 but was overshadowed by Ghost of Tsushima’s success. Now three expansion packs deep, Nioh 2: Complete Edition hopes to reel in players looking for more Samuari adventures. Character creation is a big difference between Nioh and Ghost. Here’s how to change your appearance in Nioh 2: Complete Edition.

Nioh 2: Complete Edition – Change your Appearance

Nothing is ever perfect. This mantra screams true among any form of art, from music to painting, even down to video game character creation. There’s always another tweak players wish they could make. The ‘are you sure?’ prompt is one of the most challenging questions players will answer in-game when confirming their character. Most games lock the look in place; others let players alter their look, but for a price. Nioh 2 strays away from both those practices.

To change their appearance in Nioh 2: Complete Edition, players will want to scroll over the Starting Point on their maps and select the Hut option. From here, they’ll see a straight-forward option to ‘Change your Appearance.’ Selecting this will bring players back to the original character creation screen and allows them to make as many adjustments as they desire to their protagonist. Players will be able to alter Nioh’s look any time they wish with no cost associated with it. With the edition of Photo Mode on PS5, players will want their characters looking their best.

Compared to other ‘respec’ mechanics in video games, Dark Souls 3 forced players to pay a hefty price to respec their character and change their appearance. Most other RPGs will force players to start a brand new character if they no longer liked the look of their old one. Grand Theft Auto Five locks players into playing a cast of characters they can groom and dress in any way. However, there’s no way to change Trevor’s facial features from ‘wanting to kill anything that breaths’ to ‘only wanting to kill most things that breath.’

Nioh 2: Complete Edition comes with three DLC Expansion packs: The Tengu’s Disciple, Darkness in the Capital, and The First Samurai. Each blows the doors open on the world of Nioh 2 and takes players on adventures deep into the backstory of the game. Those looking to get into the Nioh series should invest in the Complete Edition to get the most bang for their buck.

Nioh 2: Complete Edition is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
