Divinity Original Sin 2 has many side quests that can change the course of the game. Some have lasting effects on which members can be recruited, while others grant powerful equipment. Some quests have very little new lore but instead, introduce helpful mechanics.

Each party member has their own unique questline that spans the entire game. Often times the Godwoken are ideologically opposed, leading to outcomes that will please one member but upset the other. The following details the best outcome for the Red Prince, even if it sours other characters.

Party Composition in Divinity Original Sin 2

The objectives of the Red Prince favor the lizard’s Ancient Empire and isn’t outside of working with demons. This will often lead to direct conflicts with Sebille, making some of their quest goals mutually exclusive. Other choices ideal for the Red Prince can often interfere with Fane and Ifan, though in indirect ways. As a main character, Red Prince can make contradictory choices that can actually harm his loved ones and the longevity of the Empire. If recruited as a companion on Fort Joy, the player should respond favorably to lizards and use of morally gray methods to gain power. In a multiplayer game any character built during the character creator is given main avatar status and there is no way to reinstate or remove this after entering the campaign.

For Civil Abilities, whoever is the main character should have a good bit of Persuasion as they will actively be speaking on behalf of the Red Prince. Lacking this stat may cause unwanted combat to occur. As a political fugitive, several assassins will be hunting down the Red Prince. It is optimal to have at least one character that is good at sneaking forward and can maintain stealth, such as with Cloak and Dagger. There are also some Red Prince specific fights that will be much easier with a dedicated archer and/or summoner especially if they know Sky Shot or Farsight Infusion. Also have members that can expose invisible targets with Rain, Ignition, or Contamination.

Red Prince’s Questline in Divinity Original Sin 2

If not a main character, the Red Prince can be found along the beach where the player awakens. By default the Red Prince starts as a tanky Fighter, though he is open to switching this role at the player’s behest.

Chapter 1: Fort Joy

Head into the Fort Joy Ghetto and meet with Griff who is having a confrontation with the dreamer Stingtail. Follow Stingtail to his camp and be sure to move Sebille away (if she is in the party) and have the Red Prince share a dream with Stingtail by consuming his (in reality Griff’s) drudanae drugs. Note that Sebille will murder Stingtail if she is allowed to interact with him, which will anger the Red Prince. Additionally, one can pickpocket the drudanae and attempt to give it back to Griff. Players can either keep Stingtail’s theft a secret and fight Griff, or rat him out which will cause the character Silence to ambush the lizard. One can choose to wait near Stingtail and stop Silence.

On the west side of the ghetto near Beast’s wreckage is the assassin Narin. He will only attack once Red Prince walks near, so one can delay the assault by detaching him from the party and attacking Narin themselves. Once escaping the Fort Joy Prison, head to the Seeker camp and speak with Bahara, the lizard guard. She will give the Red Prince more details about the Red Princess. Also, be sure to talk to the Red Prince if he is a companion. He will give more details about his past at this point. Finally, make sure Red Prince is in the active party during the quest Lady O War or he will perish during its conclusion.

The Red Prince has a few goals in Driftwood Tavern. Have him speak to Lovrik and request a female lizard companion. While other characters get ambushed in this bait and switch, the Red Prince has a legitimate encounter with the Red Princess Sadha. While on the second floor, enter the suite room and find the Lone Wolf Baran. If Ifan is in the party, simply have a chat to find the Lone Wolves are based in the Sawmill. But if Ifan died during Lady O War, someone will have to acquire Baran’s Lone Wolf insignia through theft or combat.

Head to the basement floor of the tavern and speak to Ghangha to learn about Bhrahmos who has taken refuge with the Paladins. Travel to the Paladin Bridgehead and speak to Thom Hardwin to discover that Bhrahmos has already departed. Progress the main story goal of meeting Sourcerors until acquiring the ability Spirit Vision. Now, enter the Stone Garden and wander to the flame trap containing the thrice bound chest, use Spirit Vision and speak to the late Bhrahmos.

When using the northern exit, slightly in the east will be a group of assassins and snipers that attack once the Red Prince comes close. The other party members can move into position first, climbing up vines to reach ledges, and set up terrain traps. These enemies will run away when their vitality gets low and leave no rewards.

Head north to the Sawmill’s front gate. Ifan has enough clout to get inside, or one can flash Baran’s stolen badge. Otherwise, the guards can be tricked with Persuasion. Be warned, failed diplomacy will cause all of the Lone Wolves to become hostile and attack at once. Either way, take the east exit out of the Sawmill to find Sadha’s caravan. Red Prince will have a chance to mate with her or to forgo the opportunity. Regardless, her entourage will betray the royals and attack the party. Note that refusing Sadha will greatly lower a companion Red Prince’s attitude, possibly enough that he will abandon the party.

Chapter 3: Nameless Isle

The Nameless Isle is locked in heated war. The Black Ring and Magisters are directly at each other’s throats, while the House of Shadows and Elves have their own schemes. To traverse more easily, persuade the Black Ring that you are on their side or are a Lone Wolf for hire.

For the Red Prince, venture passed Black Ring territory and head to the southern Alter of Zorl Stissa. The Shadow Prince waits, and the outcome changes depending on if Sebille is nearby. If the Red Prince is a main avatar and Sebille is a companion, players will have the option of enslaving her back to the Shadow Prince. If Sebille is the main avatar she will assault the Shadow Prince and override the Red Prince’s questline. If Sebille is absent (either unchained or dead) the Shadow Prince will inform the party that Sadha is an agent of the God King and requests you slay her. Players can choose to agree, decline, or attack the Shadow Prince. If he lives, he will also ask that you deal with other factions on the isle, including the Elven Mother Tree and Sallow Man side quests.

Red Prince will have some minor side business with the Sallow Man himself. To enter his lair, one must go to the Elven Temple and either kill Bishop Alexander and acquire his head or agree with him to fight the Sallow Man and gain a special hood. Either way, the party should explore the Black Ring Encampment carefully. If Loshe gets near Sallow Man, the demon Adramahlihk will possess her and start a fight. If Fane (or custom undead characters) speaks to Sallow Man, they will have the option of betraying the party and becoming permanently independent and hostile. For the Red Prince, he need only get close to the Mirror of Blackest Glass to learn more about Sadha.

Chapter 4: Arx

While not a requirement, the Red Prince will have an extra option if they explore the Vault of Linder Kemm and steal his Swornbreaker. This item can remove covenants with the God King and can be given to some of his servants including Fane, Wendigo, Almira, and most importantly Sadha.

For the Red Prince’s actual quest, head into the Lizard Consulate in the northwest. This area is covered in harmful fire and enemies that resurrect. To have an easier time, one should use stealth, speed, and lock picking to avoid combat and then activate teleporter pyramids. Enter the portal to the Abandoned Arena. To make this encounter go faster, destroy all of the mirrors with ranged attacks otherwise enemies will respawn indefinitely. Illusions of Malady, Alexander, Wendigo, and the Red Prince will attack the party. This Red Prince is an exact clone, which means he can be weakened by giving the real Red Prince bad equipment and skills. Use strong Source attacks like Arrow Storm and Epidemic of Fire.

Advance further into the Consulate and speak to Sadha. One has the option of handing her the Swornbreaker to release her obligation. The Red Prince can fully consummate and spawn a hatchling, actually kill Sadha, or both. If the Shadow Prince survived, he will appear and react based on the deal. If you agreed and killed Sadha he will give out a reward, but if you broke the promise he will attack, creating a similar encounter as on Nameless Isle.
