How to Defeat Goneril in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

In Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, players have the opportunity to play as Eivor, the heroic Viking, as they traverse Norway, England, and Asgard. In this very open-world RPG, players can stumble across mysteries, loot, and mini-bosses scattered as far as the eye can see. Ready Eivor’s blade for unique and powerful enemies that may surprise them in this chaotic landscape.

The Daughters of Lerion are cultists that players can find and fight in historical England in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Members of this cult are powerful opponents that can disorient Eivor and give them a fast departure to Valhalla. Goneril can be found in the Spalda Fens of Grantescire, and initially appears on the map as a mystery. Find her open area surrounded by eerie green lights and interact with the desecrated body to provoke her wrath. 

How to Defeat the Goneril Mini-Boss in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Goneril has a power of 90, so if players find her battle especially difficult, they should work on raising their power level before jumping back into the fray. She moves supernaturally fast with her twin blades and can disorient Eivor with her powers. Players should steel themselves for some non-stop attacks from the wicked cult member.

Phase One

In the first phase of Goneril’s attacks, be prepared to dodge and block depending on what light is seen when she charges up. Make sure to not expend all of Eivor’s stamina dodging, however, as it will make it harder to return blows and Goneril might take advantage of their slow wind-up. Enable skills like Heavy Dual Wield to use a long-reaching weapon and shield together to attack Goneril from a safe distance. Equip abilities that can also catch Goneril off guard, like Valkyrie Dive. Focus on melee attacks, as Goneril’s weak point is on her back and she will always turn around to face Eivor if space is established between them. 

Goneril will use leaping and spinning attacks to overpower Eivor, so they should be as defensive as possible while learning the patterns that she uses. Goneril will also teleport around the area in flashes of light, so be prepared to turn quickly and return attacks. She will use a phantom attack that can’t be blocked in order to confuse the player and deal extra damage. Make sure to parry her attacks to knock her off balance.

Phase Two

During phase two, Goneril will start summoning green gasses around her. Run out of the gaseous circle to avoid its explosion, and dodge the green circles that appear before the poison gas bursts from them. Continue to dodge her teleporting attacks and her phantom, and attack her back. The main goal is to parry and dodge her in order to evade her attacks, and then pin her down and land multiple hits at once. 

If players find defeating Goneril difficult, they should also try to practice using their abilities on lower-level enemies in the area. Players can also pick up abilities by unlocking them using skill points, or by finding Books of Knowledge in hidden rooms within restricted areas.
