How to Defeat the Builder in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

In Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, players will need to traverse the realms in order to learn more about Norse mythology and Eivor’s path. They will need to gather ingredients for Valka so she can make a potion that gives them visions of Asgard, to see the world through Havi’s eyes and explore the magical realm.

The Builder is a suspicious character that Eivor, through the eyes of Havi, will encounter at the beginning of their fantastical visit to Asgard. Eivor will need to gather materials scattered across Asgard in order to help him build a defense system against the Jotun. When Havi refuses to trade Freyja’s hand in marriage for The Builder’s services, he reveals his true identity as a Jotun and challenges Havi to a battle over his intended bride.

How to Defeat The Builder in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Players can battle The Builder at the base of the tower he fabricated for his defenses. Players will have to endure two phases of his attack in order to subdue him and complete the rest of the Asgard storyline. This fight can prove to be very difficult for those who don’t pick up on the cues the game provides, so keep an eye out and follow these tips to bring the giant down to size.

Phase One

In the first phase of Eivor’s battle with The Builder, players will need to dodge his attacks. It’s best for a player to use a longer two-handed weapon, as The Builder is larger than life and players should keep out from under his feet. Eivor will note that The Builder has a weak spot on his head that can be better reached from the air. Players can also attack The Builder and then interact with the balls of light he leaves near his feet when he bangs his hammer on the ground. This will make Eivor’s attacks much more effective against the Jotun. Then, when his attacks launch Eivor into the air, they can launch a volley of arrows at his exposed head. There are arrow stashes hidden around the arena, so replenish Eivor’s stash when they’re running low.

Phase Two

When The Builder is at half health, he will mock Havi about his leadership skills and start the second phase of his attack. The Builder will try to encompass Eivor in a circular forcefield, so dodge and sprint to avoid it. Take every opportunity to launch into the air possible, and make Eivor’s shots count. Whenever The Builder has been damaged enough to perform a stun attack, take advantage of the opportunity, and take him out.

Once The Builder has been defeated, Eivor will need to make their way to the door to Jotunheim and will wake up in Midgard under the watchful eye of Valka. Gather the necessary ingredients for Valka to make another potion to slip back into Asgard.
