There are several cool and dark bosses to revisit during Diablo 3‘s the Darkening of Tristram annual event, like the Skeleton King. The Darkening of Tristram is a special event that allows players to revisit several stories and enemies from the first Diablo game. The Skeleton King is only one of the several different bosses available within the event, such as the Butcher, Lazarus, and Diablo himself.

This guide will cover where to find the Skeleton King and a strategy for fighting him. It will not cover the perfect build for fighting during the event but will give suggestions as to what type of abilities one might want to invest in with this boss in mind. With that stated, where are the dank and dusty bones of the Skeleton King?

Where to Find the Skeleton King in Diablo 3’s Event the Darkening of Tristram

Within the event, players will need to fight their way through the map to gain access to new areas. To find the Skeleton King, players will first need to journey to the Labyrinth. Once there, they will need to make their way up to the third level of the Labyrinth. Here there should be an entrance to King Leoric’s Tomb. This is the area where the players will find the Skeleton King.

Inside the tomb, there will be a few random skeletons roaming around. Head down the thin hallway to the left of the starting point until the player reaches a small gate. Past this gate the Skeleton King rests in a large open room, accompanied by his horde of a skeleton army.

After heading in through the gate, players will almost immediately be swarmed by his Skeleton army. The King himself is slow and takes long sweeping swings with his claymore that should be fairly easy to dodge. His swarm is more of the problem as they will quickly get in the way. Sadly, for the players, the army will continuously spawn until their King is decimated from the world.

Players shouldn’t waste their time trying to knock out the army first. Instead, they should make sure they have a good AOE attack to keep the army off of them while they focus on putting most of their damage out onto the King. They will still need to keep an eye on both sources of enemies, making sure to dodge the King’s blows while keeping the army at bay. Taking time to step away from the King can also draw his horde away from him giving the player a short expanse of time where they can damage him. Keep at it and the Undead Crown will soon belong atop a new head.
