How to Escape The Maw in The Medium

Horror title The Medium is a bizarre and mind-bending experience that allows players to use their psychological powers to travel between both the physical and spiritual worlds. Players will need to use their powers to solve puzzles throughout both realms, discover new areas to explore, and even avoid and defeat a range of powerful enemies. Players who don’t use their abilities well won’t make it very far in The Medium.

Without a doubt though one of the more disturbing aspects of The Medium is having to deal with the main antagonist of the game, The Maw. This deadly monster is able to track the player through both the living and the spirit realms and will stop at nothing to destroy the player. Escaping this monstrous creature is by no means an easy feat, so this guide is here to show players how to do so in both realms.

The Medium How to Escape the Maw

Players will encounter The Maw pretty early on in the game while they are exploring the Niwa Resort. The creature will then chase the player throughout the resort for quite a while, and the player will most likely never want to find themselves in that position ever again. Sadly for them, they won’t have a choice but to deal with The Maw several more times throughout the rest of the game. There are few ways that the player can make handling the monster easier on themselves though.

The first thing that players will need to keep in mind is that The Maw’s abilities to track them are radically different depending on what world the player is currently in. While in the material world the player shouldn’t have many issues considering the fact that The Maw is completely blind. All the player has to do is stay crouched and hold their breath to avoid being detected. In the spirit world though, The Maw has the ability to see very clearly, so the player will need to be a little more careful about avoiding it.

No matter what the trick to avoiding The Maw though is to move as slowly as possible and to keep an eye on where the creature is at all times. If the player is unsure where the creature is at they can always take a look at their flashlight. The light will actually begin to flicker as The Maw gets closer, so this is a great indicator of where the monster is at. Also if the player can’t avoid it and The Maw gets close, they can always use their Spirit Blast ability to stun it before running away. Use this as a last resort.
