The new multiplayer horror game Devour takes a page out of Phasmophobia’s book and has players teaming up to go up against a supernatural threat. Rather than working to uncover the mystery of what kind of being the player is hunting, Devour instead tasks its players with going toe to toe with a horrific demon-possessed cult leader. Those who wish to make it to the end of the game alive will need to think fast and move even faster.

The endgame of Devour is to exorcise the demon out of Anna the cult leader. The problem here though is that Anna and the other cult members are incredibly dangerous and as the game progresses they will become harder and harder to deal with. Getting to a point where the players can actually exorcise her will require a little bit of strategy first. This guide shows players how to exorcise Anna in the easiest way possible.

Devour – How to Exorcise Anna

When players begin a game of Devour they are dropped right in front of the house left with little instruction on what to do next. What the players will want to do though is climb over the gate in front of them and then take the path to the right that leads behind the house. There will be a container of gasoline that they will want to pick up on the way and then make their way to the backyard.

In the back part of the yard, players will come across a demonic altar that they will need to use the gasoline on to start a fire. This will now allow the player to make sacrifices, which are the only way to exorcise Anna. After starting the fire the player will want to enter the building behind the altar to find a key, which will come in very useful back in the backyard. Once back outside the player will spot a large cage containing a bunch of goats that they can use for making sacrifices. Use the key to unlock the cage and releases the goats.

As soon as these goats are released they will bolt inside of the house and the main job of the players now is to capture them, bring them back to the altar, and make a sacrifice out of them. This is actually more difficult than it sounds, as these goats can’t just be grabbed outright. Instead, the player will need to find bundles of hay around the area that will need to be dropped on the ground near the goats. This will distract them, which in turn will allow the player to pick them up and bring them back to the altar. The player will then need to burn all ten of these goats in order to finally exorcise Anna.

Here are a few tips for making this easier:

  • If playing with a full team of four players should sacrifice six goats, and then wait until they can all get their hands on a goat simultaneously. This will allow the players to sacrifice their goats at the same time rather than burning them individually and risking Anna becoming angrier.
  • Instead of searching around the house when the players need supplies, they should instead spend the early moments of the game hoarding resources in a specific location. This allows players to know exactly where things are when they desperately need something.
  • Remember that the flashlight can be used to stun both Anna and other cultists that are trying to attack, but also that this light recharges slowly. Only use it when it is guaranteed to stun an enemy, or there is no other way to escape.

Devour can be played on PC.
