Burmy can be difficult to find in Pokémon Legends: Arceus if trainers don’t know where to look. Shortly after joining the Galaxy Team and receiving the first starter, trainers will be thrown out into a large map and are tasked with completing research quests. These can range from capturing a set number of Pokémon or defeating them using a specific move. Regardless, each Pokémon was carefully placed within these habitats. In the Sinnoh region, the player needed to place Honey on trees for the chance of it making an appearance. Fortunately, this process is much more streamlined in this entry.

Burmy is a Pokémon that made its debut back on the Nintendo DS with the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It’s a Bug-type Pokémon that has two evolutionary forms that are dependent on Burmy’s gender. If Burmy is a male, it will evolve at level 20 into Mothim, and if it’s female, it will transform into Wormadam. Trainers should capture one of each gender to obtain them both for the Pokédex.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, trainers are pushed to interact with the world around them to find new crafting materials, berries, and even rare encounters. Finding Burmy won’t be too difficult since it makes itself fairly obvious where it appears. When exploring the map, look around for shaking trees. In Diamond and Pearl, players needed to play honey on a tree for Pokemon to appear. In this title, trees can have different crafting items or berries, but if it shakes, a Pokémon is waiting inside. Send out a Pokémon to attack the tree and a Burmy will fall out which will instantly start the battle.

Finding Burmy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Luckily, there are a few different areas in the Hisui region where Burmy can spawn in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

  • Grass in Obsidian Fieldlands.
  • Sands in Crimson Mirelands.
  • Trash in Colbat Coastlands.

More areas will begin to open up around the map as trainers level up their star rank. This is a measurement of how well the player is performing for the Galaxy Team, the higher the rank, the more complete the map will appear.

Thankfully, almost every activity in Pokémon Legends: Arceus builds towards this rank. When exploring the wilds, complete as many research tasks as possible to level up. Adding Burmy to the party and evolving it into Mothim counts as one of the many research tasks in the game. Trainers looking to 100% the game and unlock the Shiny Charm will have their work cut out for them. They will need to capture two Burmy and evolve them both into different forms.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
