When Pokémon Sword & Shield released, there were 400 Pokémon to catch. The Isle of Armor DLC added a new Pokédex with 200 Pokémon. It’s sure to keep players busy if they want to catch ‘em all. Some prove to be difficult to catch, only appearing in certain parts of the game. Others only show up in certain conditions.

The Conkeldurr is one of the Pokémon that does not show up often. It’s possible that players can play the entire game and never encounter one. It evolves from other Pokémon and is the third stage in evolution. The first form is called Timburr, and the second evolution is Gurdurr.

Finding a Conkeldurr in Pokémon Sword & Shield

The Conkeldurr can be found in the Motostoke Riverbank, within the Wild Area. It appears in most weather types, sandstorm being the notable exception. However, it is rare. If it does not appear, it might just be easier to evolve one from a Timburr or Gurdurr.

Luckily, both Timburr and Gurdurr appear in the base game, so there is no expansion needed! The easiest place to find Timburr is In the Galar Mine. It will appear just walking around. It is the same for Gurdurr, which can be found along Route 8. Gurdurr can also spawn in the tall grass in the Stony Wilderness, located within the Wild Area. It is most likely to appear under normal weather conditions.

When trying to catch Pokémon, the easiest way is to use a Quick Ball. If it is thrown at the wild Pokémon in the first turn of the battle, it has a high chance to catch that Pokémon. If not, then it needs to be caught by more conventional means. As both Timburr and Gurdurr are fighting-types, flying, psychic and Fairy-type moves are also super-effective. In addition, fighting-types do no damage against ghost-type Pokémon. Players should keep normal, ice, rock, dark, and steel-types out of the fight, as they are weak to fighting-type moves. Once the wild Pokémon gets to low health, it becomes much easier to catch.

At this point, hopefully, the player has a Timburr or Gurdurr. Once Timburr reaches Level 25, it will automatically evolve into Gurdurr. How then, will Gurdurr evolve into Conkeldurr? Well, this is where it gets tricky. A Gurdurr will only evolve into a Conkeldurr once it has been traded between players. Players can trade a Gurdurr to a friend, which will evolve into a Conkeldurr, then they trade it back. It’s also possible that players will get lucky through Surprise Trade.

There is one more way to obtain Conkeldurr, and that is through 4 or 5-star raids. These are difficult though and may require a group to work together. Good luck!
