Larvitar is one of the best Pokemon players can collect during the Johto Collection in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how they can find and capture it. Pokemon Go is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary as well as the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon series as a whole. To celebrate, players are given weekly challenges from each region of the series that is currently available in the game. Kalos was skipped since it’s too new but Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, and now Johto have all received Collection quests in the game. Completing these will reward the player with items as well as an exclusive medal that can only be collected from this event. This guide will show players how they can encounter Larvitar in Pokemon Go.

Larvitar is one of the most iconic Pokemon to exist in the series. It evolves into the pseudo-legendary of the Johto region, Tyranitar, which is one of the most powerful Pokemon in the game. Obtaining one isn’t easy either as it requires over 100 Larvitar Candy to evolve it, which can be challenging because of how rare it is the encounter Larvitar, to begin with. Although for the next week, the spawn rate of Johto Pokemon has substantially increased in favor of this event. Here is how players can increase their chances of finding a Larvitar in Pokemon Go.

How To Find (& Catch) Larvitar in Pokemon Go (Johto Collection)

Similar to Miltank, Larvitar is one of the most challenging Pokemon to find for this challenge. It can be randomly found in the wild during casual play, but it is pretty unlikely for it to spawn so easily. The best thing players can do is use an Incense. When this item is equipped, Pokemon from all over will have their spawn rates equipped for a full hour. During this time, players have been able to find a single Larvitar. When compared to the starter Pokemon, which spawned at least over 20 times each, Larvitar is fairly hard to come by. Not only that, but Larvitar can be found in 5km eggs.

On the other hand, players can also encounter Larvitar in raid battles. Look around the area and challenge these raids. These are fairly simple to defeat and can be done alone if the player is properly prepared. This will also count towards the Johto Collection challenge. Make sure to capture all 9 of these Pokemon before this upcoming Sunday. Once the event is over, the chance to grab that exclusive medal will also be gone.
