Pokémon GO keeps getting better and better, rolling out new updates regularly. Recently, Mega Evolutions were added to the game. Mega Evolutions were first introduced in Pokémon X & Y. What they did was make an additional, more powerful evolution for certain Pokémon, for a limited time. These Mega Evolutions also gave the Pokémon a different, unique look. So far there are only a few Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO, but that means that it is easier for players to catch ‘em all.

Right now, the three starting Pokémon which first appeared in Pokémon Red & Blue (or Green for the Japanese version) have gotten Mega Evolutions, as well as a few others. The original fire-starter Charizard is unique in that there are two different versions of its Mega Evolution: Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y.

How to Find Mega Charizard X in Pokémon GO

Both Mega Charizard X and its counterpart Mega Charizard Y can be found in raids. As is appropriate for raids in Pokémon GO, taking one down is no easy task. Players will have to team up together to take one down. Mega Charizard X comes in a unique blue color scheme with blue flames (science fact: that means its hotter). To defeat it, players will want to capitalize on their weaknesses. Normally, Charizard is a fire/flying dual type, but Mega Charizard X changes to become a fire/dragon-type. The fight is already difficult enough, so players will need to make sure they are prepared.

When teaming up, players have a few options for doing so. A recent feature allows players to invite their friends to a raid, even if their friends do not happen to be in the area. In addition, players can use Remote Raid Passes to participate in a raid without needing to be in the immediate vicinity. In fact, Pokémon GO is running a special promotion where players can get three Remote Raid Passes for only 1 PokéCoin, which is a very good deal. This deal only lasts through September 30th, so players will need to act quickly. These Remote Raid Passes mean that players will be better able to participate in a raid with the Mega Charizard X.

Once the players defeat it, all that remains is to catch it. Unfortunately, it will revert to only a regular Charizard, but it does give some mega energy, and when a player wishes to use the Mega Evolution, it will return to the Mega Charizard X form for a limited time.
